I'm a smurf. Ok, maybe not but I'm blue in the face

I've been trying to sell my wife on the idea of camping in an AS trailer and she just doesn't get it. She'd rather have a box if she's going to have anything but she'd rather have neither. She's from south america, there it is dangerous to go out of the city into the 'woods'... due to rebel's, terrorist's, thief's, and drug cartel's...

Here's the deal... we have a 16mo daughter. I got to camp as a kid, boy scouts, church group, summer camp and I always loved it. My cousins family got a VW bus camper, then upgraded to a pop-up trailer and then finally a motor coach. They were always going fishing, camping, snow or water skiing, somewhere... can you tell I was/am envious? Their family is soo close knit and I think at least part of it is due to those camping trips.

Anyway, I was hoping to find someone that might be able to provide another point of view; maybe wiser than I, with some experience (kids & etc)... her primary language is spanish so if you speak spanish that's a bonus... but english is good too.

Please contact me off line if you're willing... y2k_knight at hotmail dot com.

Maybe you could find an RV campground that has cabins as well. Rent one of the cabins for a weekend. She will get a chance to see that it is nothing like where she comes from. Then work on the Airstream angle if the weekend is successful.

So, I've been thinking about this a bit. How about presenting it something like this:

"Querida mio, I grew up camping, and would like my children to camp as well because a lot of really special memories for me come from that, but I know that it's not something that was part of your life, and you may not be happy in a tent with all the bugs and bears and things--I thought getting an Airstream would be a good way to make both of us happy. There's this thing they call "glamping"...glamorous camping!"

Then show her all of the STUFF there is online about glamping. And enlist some of the Silver Sisters to help you in your quest! They look like a fine bunch and surely she can make some friends among them. (And if she does, don't be surprised when she takes off in the AS without you!)
