How Big is the Oven Anyway?

We will be picking up a new 2012 Flying Cloud 25B next week. My wife is sitting here trying to find a measurement for how big the oven is inside, so she can buy some cookware that will fit. Anyone know? THANKS!

You are picking a new Flying Cloud. Congratulations, Call the dealer. They should be able to give you the info you need.

Are you a new Airsteamer?

I had some newbie frustrations; one day I turned on the gas, opened the oven door, and calculated whether or not it was big enough to put my head in.

We have the same year and model trailer as you, new model this year. Our second Airstream. We have been camping in it about six weeks now (5 more months to go on this trip) and couldn't be happier with it.

Do you have the convection microwave option, as well as the propane oven? If so you will probably be using the convection microwave oven (or maybe both) when in full hookups and the propane oven without hookups.

Storage space and weight are always important consideration on any addition to the trailer, so proceed thoughtfully. Get cookware that will fit and work in the convection microwave (if you have it) as well as the propane oven so you don't end up with cookware for each. Pyrex type ovenware can be used in both, so find a few pieces that nest together for storage. We also have a large cast iron dutch oven and cast iron covered fry pans that can be used in the propane oven or stovetop, or outdoors, so they are also multipurpose. The cast iron pieces are from Le Creuset, expensive but durable and nice enough for serving and leaving out as decorator pieces on the range, thereby using less storage space. Everyone has their own favorites but this small selection works well in this trailer.

I think I would wait to get the trailer so you can fit the cookware in the way you would use and store it.

I've got a fairly new Airstream with the Amana oven, the first thing you want to do is master the art of lighting the pilot light. I looked and looked until I finally found it. Secondly realize the broiler is on the very bottom of the oven. We went to Bed, Bath and Beyond and found a broiler pan to fit.

Sorry the trailer is in storage or I'd measure it for you. I personally like it better than the convection/microwave option. We had a Class "B" prior to the A/S and hated the Half Time Oven that came with it. It blew a fuse the first time we used the convection side, not user replaceable - took a couple weeks while they replaced the whole oven under warranty. After that we only used the microwave portion.

Congrats on the new baby! The Amana gas oven in our 2005 25FB is 16" wide by 16" deep by 8" high from the rack in the lowest position.

our 2011's oven is bigger than the ovens in all the other rv's we have had. Have not measured it but it is a good size.

Thanks all! The unit we finally negotiated to buy is a 25B "with microwave." The unit we saw a month ago when we were at the dealer was a 25FB without microwave. So, we haven't actually seen the unit we bought yet - that's how the question came up.

My wife saw some cast iron Le Crueset dutch ovens on sale, and wanted to be sure the one she got would fit.

Our 2012 FC 25 B has both ovens.

Propane oven is 15" x 16" x 8" deep above the rack. Convection microwave is 12" x 12" x 6 1/2" deep above the turntable.

The 5 1/2 qt cast iron (red) Le Crueset dutch oven fits perfectly in size and style.

How funny! Yeah, she's already baking cookies in her mind in that new rig. I think she's more excited than I am.

It's a funny thing all together. On June 30 of this year, we had never even talked about RVing, or certainly not owning an Airstream. By December 1, we've already been through one trailer, one TV, and moved on to a second TV, and an epic Flying Cloud! Dang is life just a beautiful thing or what?

Thanks for that nice picture and dims. It helps. She has that dutch oven picked out! We went shopping today for some other "trailer goodies" too.

Man, I just can't wait to hear my favorite two words: "'Mum back!"
