GOT IT! ... and got it home!

Had a great day today at Colonial picking up our new 25FB Twinternational Sig.

Gotta say: the folks at Colonial were awesome. Met Patrick briefly, then spent about three hours getting a detailed, attentive walkthrough from Nick (who is an Orlando Bloom lookalike) with Chris setting up our hitch and Brian (parts) solving a couple issues here and there for us. I was really happy with the level of detail in the walkthrough and the absolute lack of any rush whatsoever. They were even really great with my kids.

With all the research I've done, there was only one thing that I remained worried about: would my truck work well to tow? Delighted to report that we blasted home at 65 with ease and even the smaller engine in my Tundra (2013 double cab, 4x4, 4.6L engine) had no trouble. Didn't feel sluggish at all and I found myself passing more than a few folks on the way, which really surprised me. Things were nice and level with the setup and it really didn't seem much different from how the truck drives when it's not towing.

The best part? When were there, we met airforums couple "Wild Child" and they happen to live just up the road from us (and we even have friends in common!) It was great to meet some other local airstreamers in person, and they even offered a cell phone number if we struggled on the way home. What a nice thing to do! THANKS!

We bought our unit sight unseen, but with a LOT of time spent looking at specs, reviewing photos/videos, and looking at used ones. (We had originally planned to buy used.) None of that did justice to what things look like "for real" -- really polished and well designed (with, perhaps, the exception of the compartment where the water pump is, which is a rats nest of pipes and wires!).

Anyway... it's official: we've got our trailer. Looking forward to taking it out when the weather warms.

Kids got up and ran right out to sit in it this morning. Coffee and GO Fish ensued.

Still working on a name.

So it's all about drawer linings and deciding what goes where. And making lists of things I have to pick up.

Have a great time, I am with you, you do not need a great big TV to pull an airstream. I hope you have as much fun as we have.

Congratulations

Congratulations! We are Airstream newbies in nearby Easthampton. We bought our 27 foot Flying Cloud in June last year and we have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves learning and getting out there. We just winterized, but since getting our Airstream, we already put 5,500 miles on and have spent 74 nights in it. We wish you all the best with yours and if you ever want to get together to compare and share thoughts and experiences, we'd be happy to do so. We are just down the road from you. Feel free to send us a private message.

They say the two best days of a boat owner's life are the day you buy it and the day you sell it! I don't think that holds for AIrstreams. We have bought two and sold one. Both buying days were exciting, but we really had a hard time parting with our first one. When I walk through a RV park and see my Flying Cloud nested there among the SOBs, I still can't believe that silver beauty is mine ... and it is. I hope you and your family have many happy days with yours.

I bought my Airstream used at Colonial and it was, like you, sight unseen. More I was trading in a camper. I could not believe how well I was treated and I recommend them to anyone who will listen.
