Golf carts

So I found some oooooold threads on golf carts. I thought I'd resurrect the topic.

Who has them, and what do you have?
Gas or electric?
Do you take it with you?
What is your favorite pimp mod? (as in pimp my ride)

Pics would be awesome.

What does this have to do with Airstream? Absolutely nothing. Shall we start a thread on what type of fishing pole is best? Even if I don't fish as least it would be close to what people use their trailer for ie, camping.

Think this thread should be closed.

Wow, tough crowd. Many people in the RV world use golf carts. I thought it was a good question.

From YOUR posts no results:
"Many of you have experience with tonneau covers on their trucks. Would like opinions on your choices.
I have had a bak flip fibermax that I was happy with and am going to change trucks and looking for ideas.
Thanks,
Dave"

I pose the same question, what does this have to do with Airstreams?
Get a life...

Don't worry about it, if it's not about tires, hitches, or undersized tow vehicles it's not a valid topic to some of these folks!

There is a handy feature on the "Thread Tools" pull-down menu, labeled "Ignore Thread," for those folks who think the thread should be closed. Basically it makes the thread invisible to you just as if it was closed, but everyone else who isn't interested in stifling free speech can still read this thread and/or post to it.

I use the "Ignore Thread" function all the time to keep threads out of my "New Posts" that I'm not interested in. Well worth learning to use.

But since you've already posted to this thread and posting to a thread automatically subscribes you to it, first you have to "Unsubscribe" (also under "Thread Tools") before you can successfully "Ignore" it.

And for the record— according to the results of a quick search— between 2006 and 2015 there have been no less than six other threads here about golf carts, so obviously some Airstreamers think it's a valid topic of discussion.

Don't get me started on Golf Cars. Yes we in the industry call them cars as they have a motor of some kind and four wheels. Carts are pulled or pushed by the player. I was GM of a manufacturer for a number of years. Don't have one as we carry way too much stuff in the back of our pick up.

Very common with the old fart SOB toy hauler crowd and mega retirement trailer parks. They are illegal in most states on the road and in many state and national parks. My only issue is seeing kids driving them around acting like idiots with or without adult supervision.

Yes, my park apparently has some rule that if you are there, you need a golf cart. It seems that way anyway. There are rodeos Saturday nights and the parking lot is FULL, 75% golf carts, 25% real cars. So I went with the flow and got one.

In order to haul it with me I'd need a big bed F250/350. I think it weights 750 pounds before pimping. And as mentioned before in many places they are illegal or not welcome.

FCStreamer: Your 2003 Club Car 48V weighs in at just about 865 pounds. The electric is heavier than the gas - it's the four deep cycle 12v batteries you have in yours that add weight.

Virtually all states allow LSV, which are nothing more than golf cars, set up by DOT standards in each state to drive on roads which in most cases are posted under 35mph. When I was working we developed and sold three models of these but with not too much success in most states. Where they sold and I believe still do is in states where the weather is good all year and in gated communities for short runs to the store. Personally I'd never drive on the city or country roads with one.

48 volt Club Car with flip down rear seat. No easy way to take it camping but we use it around the neighborhood and with the receiver hitch I added I can move the FC around the garage with it:-)

I use a tricked out golf cart to get to my Airstream permantly parked next to the Animas River. Does that count? Too, I have two dedicated RV parking places and I like to use the golf cart to direct friends to these spots. It lends an air of professionalism when you use a golf cart to guide RV's to a parking spot.

Golf carts

Hi Bud, I'm not the one with the electric Club. Mine is a 2016 gas Yamaha. Dry weight without options is 562 pounds.

Wow! Not sure if you've been around many RV parks but golf carts are used extensively in quite a few of the large ones/resorts. The OP's question is relevant to the RV lifestyle but perhaps, not your lifestyle.

Maybe cut him a break and either don't read/follow the thread or sit back and maybe learn something?

My apologies, but the "Yami" gas cars were always very stiff competition for us at CC. Not sure about the 16's but my guess is they are still pretty good cars. Yamaha makes a very nice gas engine. Their electrics are a bit suspect.

Enjoy

Bud

Well, that's a question I was hoping someone here could help with. I do feel it is airstream related, because it has to do with hauling while pulling an airstream. We have a Dodge Ram 2500 heavy duty, short bed. The short bed is a big issue. Hubby does not want to take the tailgate off because of the camera. So I must come up with a solution. (I wanted cart) The AS is 1987 sovereign. 27' I think. What is the opinion on a hitch extender? I'm looking in to some kind of riser to drive it up on in the truck. The cart has a lift kit so that might help. The tailgate down hits the jack. 😳

My 2015 EZ-GO TXT weighed in at over 900 pounds. With tongue weight, fuel and gear, I don't think my F-250 can take on that type of extra weight.
