First Sunday of the New Year - Spring Weather - I've got the itch!!!

First Sunday of the New Year with spring like weather outside in the DC area.

Took a nice 30 minute drive north on some backroads to visit "Twinks" this morning at her storage location after an extended drive with the "Green Manalishi".

Charged the battery with the generator while watching some football, catching up on office work via the notebook and performing a little preventative maintenance. Heading back home now to watch my Broncos play.

Heck, can we just skip winter for the DC area this year? I'm ready to take my Airstream out, de-winterize her, and get back on the road!!!

What do you all think?

John,

Good looking rig, agreed I'm ready in fact I feel good about having 2 reservations already this year and one will be my first outing with other Streamers, should learn a lot.

I have one ace card, my rig is in the back yard, ready for a weekend getaway, campfire and all.

Spring is fickle. We enjoyed the springlike weather you're enjoying today for the past three days. Then, we woke today to grey, heavy skies, cold...winter at it's unloveliest. Nevertheless, Gypsy sits at rest in the backyard, a welcoming guest cottage for our kids when they wander home for a few days, and always ready to be spruced up for a quick in-state trip...or longer if the good spirits of the road smile with favor on us. Hope does spring eternal... ~G

Very mild here too. If this keeps up, I could have gone all winter w/o winterizing the 'stream. (Would have just left furnace on for the occasional freezing night).

Now that the shakedown cruise is behind me and am not as intimidated by things - am chomping at the bit to get going again.

Am really thinking about the big hoe-down at Jackson Center. Alumapalooza? Would be a big trip from the westcoast, but am really tempted to try.

Any eastern Canadians thinking of going down? Maybe we could rendezvous and do the caravan thing to JC?

I'm only back to the East Coast for two years now (for a brief period before I return West) where in Southern Cali I could ramble around all year. Last year we had early snow here in the DC area, first time I had to Winterize, with salt on the roads I was ready to be home - but with spring like weather so far this year I'm itching to go...

I know within a week or two winter can arrive but still, days like today make it hard to keep "Twinks" winterized and out of action till March...

I'm just itching to get this winter behind us.

February tends to be BRUTAL - really cold and the best chance for a blizzard in the mid-Atlantic states. I too have the itch to go, but trust me, if I go it will be SOUTH!

Just got back from New Orleans. The weather was fantastic the whole trip down, there, and back. NOLA temperatures were as unpredictable as usual, t-shirts one day, long underwear the next, but sunny the whole time. I'm not sure I'll winterize this year. No sooner than we got home we started thinking about the next trip, wherever that may be.

WoW - now that's a pic of a snow event! Guess I'll just shut-up and enjoy the mid-Atlantic mild winters...
