External storage?

Hi,

I have a 19’ 2020 Bambi and I would like some additional, external storage. I’m considering a narrow storage trunk mounted on my battery box, behind my propane tanks. I’m also considering something (drawer or box) underneath, just behind and left of the spare tire.

I’m looking to store my white and grey water hoses in it as well as my filter, adaptors and misc camping supplies.

Does anyone have suggestions for me? I’m not a fan of the stock AS bumper since I don’t feel the storage in it is useful. Kind of a bad design in my opinion.

Unique ideas on where you are storing these hoses are welcome.

Thanks
Robert

Same

I'm reasearching this too, I haven't purchased anything. Approach angle and departure angle matter, we don't have a lot of space. I found a different way of storing my stinky slinky, with a product I found searching "drainmaster". I'd sanitize and free up a space, I could put something else there. I found pottable water hose coils that could fit where the stinky slinky was. I could even buy another tube for under the belly and store fishing rods there. I'm thinking about this too. I'm going to start by condensing and relocating my waste system and go from there. Approach and delarture angle are key for not bottoming out.

I'm going to reply to myself. I was under my Bambi 16' and the drainmaster storage box does not fit. There really isn't much space under the Bambi. I could imagine dangling RotoPax containers in some places. I probably won't do that though.

I’ve got two categories of drain hoses: those I use and those I take along because the wife found them on a list of necessary items. For the pristine new hoses, I cut a piece of plywood to set above the propane tanks (under the cover). It is a little more work to get to the tanks, but still better than the cuss-inducing rummaging that resulted from storing them in the sole outside compartment on my 23FB. I also have the emergency hitch and jack cranks set there at the moment, but need to secure them better before heading out on our first post pandemic trip.
Do you have the single battery box that pokes up above the A-frame? I hated that design, and the flush box is part of the reason I let the wife talk me into moving up from the 22FB Sport we started with. Currently, I just have a small blue waste tote there, but there’s good potential for a storage box instead. I use durable foam to protect the finishes and a locking cable to keep my tote from flying away (also serves to make the batteries more secure - I changed to a CM 751 lock from the big box store to get rid of the projecting mechanism as well). Would your dealer do a retrofit?
If I were to relocate the spare drain hoses, I would look at attaching a second tube to the current underbelly storage.
The bumper storage is good for the lego blocks and chocks. I always worried about the results from backing up a few inches too far with the sleek little Sport. The bumper storage design is dusty and wet, but for the low value, high grubbiness items you store there, it works.
Happy travels!

I built storage for my sewer hoses (Lippert Waste Master) from square aluminum tubing. It's mounted at the back above the bumper. Some place like Metal Supermarket can cut to length and a non-ferrous blade in your skil saw or miter saw can make other cuts for you.

End piece is 6"X6" square tub turned sideways and cut in two pieces for door. Piano hinge riveted to pieces with catches to shut. This piece and the end cap are the only welds required. Brackets to the frame and to secure the tubes together are bolted on. (Picture taken before second tube added and hole cut in end piece.)

Pull out the main tube and you have access to the extension tube.

The fitting to attach the extension is too large for main tube (4"X4") so I built a box from a piece of 6"X6" square tube.

I like the idea of using the space above the propane tanks, but I've already used that space. I like the idea of using the bumper. My 16' does not have a bumper. I'm considering installing a hitch, and getting a hitch basket, for fluffy light stuff, but I digress.

The link was very good. If you haven't clicked on it, click on it. It looks like I am not alone at all in underbelly storage. I love all these ideas.
