E Bike
Thoughts on this cute but pricey number …
They will be garaged in the camper shell of our TV when not in use. I was a bike mechanic and refuse to put one outdoors in the elements.

Interesting and in my opinion not that expensive. Those little wheels will only be good for smooth pavement and a pothole could result in a nasty endo which is what would make me steer clear of it.

It depends on what it will be used for. Might be OK for cruising the campground but not so much anywhere else. They say 30 mile range with pedals but that's a vague number at best. It's also too small for an adult to effectively pedal. I'd look for something else.

After a good bit of research and test rides we went with the Rad Power Radrunner Plus. My wife in particular felt this was the best for her.

Personally, I'm not a fan of these small-wheeled bikes. And $600 is cheap. Last thought: "Cute" is a terrible reason to buy anything. Function first, Cute last.

Interesting bike for scooting around the campground. But I don't know about riding around the countryside on unpaved roads though.
We opted for the Tern Vektron S10 folding bike with the Bosch central motor. Being foldable it fits easily in the TV and with the larger wheels and tires it is very versatile (except for serious mountain biking). I ride it at 30 km/h (20 mi/h) on paved or unpaved roads and I am no Tour de France cyclist.
If you are into boondocking and you like/need to do some scouting before engaging down a remote road with your rig, it's a great solution.

Thanks!
The idea is a campground beater, but I like the possibility of off grid recon, and small enough not to eat up all of the space in the camper shell. My serious cycling days are long gone, and Iris just likes the play aspect of a bike.
Only thing I’d change on that Vectron is replace that silly front fender with a rear fender that wraps down in front. The way it is, if the road is wet, the water follows the tire, sprays out to the front, then you get soaked.

My first mountain was a Raleigh in 1987, as mountains were starting to come into their own, suspension was unheard of back then. Still have it, great bike.
That’s a mountain beater, with a motor and a battery - never meant for speed, just fun. I like it. I’d want to know more about how the frame is built. But it’s not like the old days when you could bust a cheap frame flying down a mountain and end up in the hospital.
I say go for it.

We have multiple bikes to choose from but each required pulling the front wheel to load in the shell they’re great for taking long rides but overkill for just riding in the rv park .
We no longer need to ride outside the park when attending rv events , just getting around the park to visit other attendees .
So my solution is an electric scooter . I got a Inmotion scooter the handle bar folds down to act as a carrying handle , takes very little space , weighs 52# goes up to 49 miles and up to 19 mph . That’s a bit overkill for the typical 5 mph speed limit in rv parks but I do have control with the throttle so no problem .
The range means I can go to multiple events and not have to charge for most of the year , it does come with a charger .
I got mine from Amazon .

I don't like any tiny E-bikes. I'm remined of a clown riding a bicycle when I see one.
We opted for full size, folding, Montague (the only brand making a full size foldable bike) bikes. The M-E1.
Check it out.

I'll second this vote. We have a pair of these which we've taken all over the country when we traveled in our coach. They were chosen for how small they fold - so much so that we were able to store in a bay down below. They ride like a much larger bike. We opted for the rear carry rack which has wheels on the tail end, allowing them to be stored on their tail standing up, and I'm hoping to figure out a way to carry them this way tucked into the back of our Suburban when we pull our AS.

Tern bikes are highly recommended. Great products, in a variety of form factors.
My plan for my next bike is a Tern GSD.
I won't purchase a Rad Power bike due to quality issues. They have a place, but the low price point can come with issues.
Really like the Gazelle e bikes as well.

I feel like e-bikes are a love/hate dilemma, and a multi-variable compromise in different directions (cost, power, weight, size, run time ...) and in the end, we got a pair of fairly inexpensive (as e-bikes go) folding e-bikes, the brand is "Lectric XP". Love them for the fact they are affordable and extend my range relative to purely human power, including the ability to climb substantial hills. Hate them for how much I have to physically man handle them when loading/unloading. We also have taken them down the shoreline of South Padre Island, they did well there too, but they are heavy (steel), and I haul mine in the back of my pickup bed, folded and laid on their side. I have a hard flat top (folding flat top) that covers my bed, so they are somewhat protected from the elements, and they are not visible so they dont attract attention. I have gotten better about positioning them in the rear bed, but they absolutely take up a substantial portion of my storage space back there. I went with cost effective, sacrificing weight and size, I dont think there is any single "right answer" for all, you have to decide what is most important to you and go from there. Hope that helps you.

I agree with 1StreamDream’s take on ebikes.
@1StreamDream - have you considered a front trailer hitch for your ebikes? That’s what I did, and I can post some photos when I get back home in a few days.

Because we wanted full size bikes we gave up some truck bed space for one folded, with one on the Flamma carrier.

Thanks for the suggestion, I have considered that option, but it just doesn't feel right for me. I wouldn't want them exposed to all that "grit/grime/sandblasting" and I am also unsure how I would feel about looking at them for the longer road days. We have a pretty good arrangement now, with them folded and covered and in the bed, we pack all around them. There is no spare space, but thus far we have always been able to bring what we really need to bring (within reason of course). I do have a 6-1/2 ft bed (super-cab) and that helps, in case others were wondering. The 1/2 tons with 5-1/2 ft bed would be a much more significant problem for us, might have to leave some things home, or change the packing arrangement and put more items inside the trailer.

Great thread and very timely.
I have been informed by DW that I am buying her a new e-bike for Xmas.
I'll scan through the thread for options, and might have some questions, but really appreciate all the info so far.
