I called Austin. They told me that they did not have a separate category for travel trailers and that the specialty plate ordered from Myplates would work fine. I was unclear about it myself because I read the rules online and it confused me as well. The place I ordered the plates from were unclear as well, that is why I called the special plates department in Austin. I did not have any problem at the local tax accessors office getting it registered.

We finally sold the Airstream and bought a Thor Tuscany 45' for full-timing in retirement. Sorry to see it go, but the plate is now free for some other Airstream soul!

Maybe in another state than where you registered that iconic name. In FL once a personalization is applied, it's locked to the person who originally ordered it.

The state of WA has “Specialty Plates” in addition to “Personalized Plates”. A few years ago I thought it would be neat to have my WBCCI number on a personalized plate for our AS.
A few months later I started receiving Violation notices from NJ and NY. It seems that some scofflaw with WA specialty plates was failing to pay to drive on their tollroads. They disregarded the little letters on the plate and sent the notices to me (even though neither one of us has ever been near NJ or NY).
I notified the WA State Dept. of Licensing and they couldn’t have cared less. Not surprising given how dysfunctional this state has become. I paid to cancel the plate so they made money on the deal...
After writing two letters to the Governor of NJ, one to the Governor of NY, and making a few telephone calls over the better part of a year I finally got the issue resolved.

Alas, Kentucky doesn't offer personalized travel trailer plates. Vehicle plates are only on the back so personalized ones aren't visible when you have the AS hooked up. Personalized specialty plates, live veteran plates, are limited to 5 characters, so you can't do much with them. Our AS is named Dora, so I just got some Dora the Explorer stickers for the outside. Now I can't find them to put them on. [heavy sigh]
