I've got to add another NO to the growing list. I think it's a pretty presumptuous thing to ask someone who is just an acquaintance.

I also agree with the sentiment that my trailer feels more personal for some reason and I wouldn't want someone staying in it unless it was family or my very best friends and even then only when I am in it or nearby to help them understand how to use it.

My step daughter once asked me to use it for her birthday weekend once. I just smiled and told her I wouldn't want something to get broken with out me doing it. Later, I was like, what a thing to ask. I never would have ever even thought to ask my parents to just use there airstream as a young adult. They would have laughed in my face. I've worked hard and continue to, to have nice things for my wife and I to enjoy. It's an entitlement thing with young adults these days. Get a good job and go forth on your own and leave my toys alone.

Thanks anyway, but I don't need to borrow your kids. I got enough of my own. As far as lending out the AS? Don't even ask. Sal

FWIW.....

Rather than try to explain, I have let a few tow with the Hensley.
With me as the co-pilot.

We did once to a lady down the road who had a chimney fire and needed a place to live while her house was being repaired. Came back with broken motor cover to the rear Fantastic fan and the plastic rods/connectors for the blinds were broke. Will never happen again (loaning the AS).

I would lend it to my parents (who own a 34' Airstream), or select members of the local WBCCI unit that we know well - i.e., all people who know exactly why we care about it so much, and also know how to operate it. Otherwise, though - no.

We actually did loan out our first AS to some friends. They were having a family reunion at their house and could use the extra room. They didn't ask, we offered. The trailer needed a bunch of work and at that point in time really couldn't be hurt.
The second trailer we never let anyone use, but we were never asked. This trailer is off limits. Period. My sister thought she could borrow it to live in it for a few months and I just laughed at her. Yes, I am a hard hearted b***h.
One of the reasons we have a trailer is so we don't have to sleep on a bed that has other peoples' cooties.

I shift the blame and just say my insurance won't cover if something is damaged!

No...I don't loan my kids and wife out either....the AS is right up there in my importance scale. I know....it is just a possession...but I can't help myself on this one.

How to ruin a friendship

1.Loan them money.
2. Let them use your Airstream

Not to someone that I don't know. We let friends who are traveling through, or visiting us, stay in our Airstream in our driveway. I'd just say that it's winterized and put away until spring.

Reason #666: "We haven't finished the exorcism" (the previous owner was doing some weird stuff and we don't want to risk injuries to innocents)
