Bring a fan?

I wonder how many people bring a fan for interior use?

I ask because I am looking at filters/heaters/purifiers [asthma here] and need to know how much to prioritize air movement as a nice to have... The Dyson does it all but oh boy it's pricey!

We keep a small round one that is maybe 5" and a larger one that is about 12" in the camper. They work good to move air from one end to the other or provide noise for sleeping.

For cooling and for background noise cancellation, I usually carry 2 of these

When it is hot outside with no breeze, I clamp one to my folding chair

Endless Breeze

https://www.amazon.com/Fan-Tastic-01...endless+breeze

We always have this aboard. We boondock with solar so A/C is inoperative. This fan is 12volt, portable and if we need a breeze at night I hang the fan amidships on a bungee cord stretched across the passageway. It's fairly quiet on low speed.

Super. Sounds like the fan is a good idea...

If you're already going to bring a fan, then you may like to use it outside also to discourage mosquitos and keep a nice breeze on you. Throw in a 25 foot orange extension cord!

I carry two fans, a single and a double. They are both AC/DC and are essential for boondocking as far as I am concerned. As long as I have air flow I can be comfortable.

We use the O2 10" fan. Runs on AC, internal battery pack and replaceable alkaline batteries. We run it for ventilation, drying and noise dampening. At $75-80, they are not cheap, but effective enough for us to keep buying them whenever on sale. West Marine was primary source, but available other retailers. They make other sizes, if 10" is too big for you. Think there is a USB connector, but we have never used that. Pat

We also highly recommend the 10" O2 Cool Fan referenced by Pat. They are selling on Amazon right now for $46. Best, Joe

At home I have lots of fans. Here in Florida it helps save electricity on A/C. My favorite is a Lasco tower fan. It sits about 42" high but has a small footprint, oscillates and has an ion generator inside.
I ordered it from Home Depot. The bonus is it's quiet.
My only regret is it doesn't have heat too, then it would be perfect!

I have the dyson heat+cool and was also initially turned off by the price tag, but I have no regrets. Yes, it's expensive, but it's essentially three appliances in one and you also must consider how much you'll use it. I've had the wonderful opportunity to spend part of my winter in WA state where temps dropped well below freezing and the dyson was a nice supplement.

As above, I carry the Fantastic fan, DC and two of the clip on little AC fans. Distributes air conditioning better to the sleeping area and the eating area.

We carry a twelve volt and a one ten fan. Beyond belief anyone could camp without one or the other. Small confined space. Circulates air to supplement air conditioning or heating as well as helping to dry the air in high humidity.

We carry a couple of these small battery fans, which use 2 D cells, which we recharge in a solar charger.

https://www.amazon.com/O2COOL-5-Inch...attery+D+cells

They are great on the dinette, or in the galley while cooking. The angle is adjustable and they fold up nice and small for storage. On Low they pretty quiet.

A good tool for the too-hot toolbag, in addition to the many good suggestions so far. The main drawback is that they are designed to sit on a counter, not suspended or clamped in any way.

Nice to be thinking about hot weather coming -- cheers from the NE!

We absolutely use fans.
A 12v fantastic fan and a 110v fan. I would love to have the Milwaukee fan as it uses the same battery as my drill but they are pricey.
Our uses:
- used in sleeping area to move air around and white noise for noise cancellation
- when its just hot and muggy
- to dry our bath towels
- to dry the shower which keeps down mold growth - shower is then easy to clean
- keep air moving on the floor for the dog on hot days
- outside under the awning to keep bugs away

Caframo Fans

I have used these fans - 1-12 volt and 1-110 volt Caframo fans.

The main plus of these fans are that they are very quiet; and with the soft blades you won't hurt your self if you accidentally touch them while they are running. The 12 volt model has an optional clamp which makes the positioning more versatile. You can follow the links or search for them on A..Z..N

There is also another 12 volt Caframo fan that I used on my sailboat. It has three speeds, can be aimed in any direction and has a timer built in. It needs to be permanently mounted.

Supertrouper Endless Breeze 12v with a 110v converter works great for us indoors & outdoors. We carry a portable 35amp/hrs AGM Battery so we can use the fan anywhere. Keeps us cool & bug free.

I did a video on fans. We ended up with four Caframo's mounted above our sleeping positions--they are quiet and use very little power... but they are pricey for sure.

Take a look here for the longer story: https://youtu.be/OHWZZqplxyQ

We use the 12V fan mentioned above when we boondock. When we have A/C hookup, we break out his cool fan - fits the decor perfectly. Pricey, but cool!

We still have the endless breeze but have upgraded to (2) Maxxair Maxxfan bidirectional fans which can provide cross ventilation easily even in inclement weather.
