Blurring Street view on Google

Maybe I'm just an unaware old fart, but my son told me you could request Google to blur items on Street View in Maps. With AS theft being somewhat of a problem, I decided to make the request.
Just go to Street view and hit the three dot menu and you can submit a request to blur out anything. People, cars, plates, etc.

Interesting...but the "street view" is so old in my neighborhood, we don't even live there yet. It's at least 8+ years old...our house is "For Sale". Good to know though...our Airstream does show up on the Aerial view.

For both the satellite and street views, the date of the image is usually at the bottom of the page IMO.

This satellite image of Jackson Center OH is from 2021:

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ja...!4d-84.0402203

The street view from 2018 shows an empty field where the new AS factory is IMO:

https://www.google.com/maps/@40.4396...6!9m2!1b1!2i50

Is 19389 W. Pike Street the correct address more or less? This is where the new plant is, according to Google map's street view map.

PS -- Correction -- ran out of edit time -- there must have been a data error at Google. The new plant appears to be north of the Service Center on W. Pike near the center of Jackson Center in the satellite view, not at that empty field.

No, your initial link was the correct location of the new plant (unless they moved it since I was there 7 weeks ago). In both satellite view and street view it’s an empty field. The image you linked to as “satellite view from 2021” is not from 2021, it’s from some time before the new plant construction commenced.

Bing Maps has a newer satellite view which shows the factory. I’m stymied trying to get a working link to post here, but here’s a screenshot of the Bing satellite view.

My neighborhood is so rural, they have not even taken a street view picture of our house...

Great feedback, Jim, thanks for the screenshot. I can see the same thing on Bing maps.

Good to know that Google no longer shows the correct date of the map data, which used to be helpful for research in general.

Microsoft hmmmm . . . are you a member of Bing, or whatever, which might enable getting an accurate URL? Usually in Firefox, using a mouse for a laptop, I can right-click on a page, and get some kind of URL more detailed than the one in the web address at the top of the screen. Not so here.

Microsoft hmmmm . . . so secretive . . . and proprietary . . .

Thanks again,

Peter

My house, built in 2018, shows up on Apple maps but not on Google maps.

If you use Google Earth Pro desktop version (not the web version), in the upper left corner of the image it will show a time line of when and how many images are stored of the area that you are searching.

For example, searching on "Jackson Center, OH" there are 20 images ranging from Dec 1985 to February, 2020.

and I thought Wyoming had old pics! My house's street-view shot is from 2011.

Theft averted

I believed the gist of thread was theft prevention. There are lots of gizmos out there to buy which prevent the easy theft of your airstream and don’t involve monthly charges for gps services. If we stay in hotel en route we use one so we can do the city unencumbered. Has anyone had a bad experience in using one of these?
(Tire boots, ball hitch fillers, ball lock locks etc). Can be used anywhere you fear theft.

Street view is not a good tool for thieves. First, they're too lazy to scroll through terabytes of data looking for Airstreams parked. Secondly, it's not in real time, so the Airstream I saw on Street View may not be there today, sold a year ago, out camping, etc.
