Best Combination I have ever Seen

Ok, Here is the story. We left Colorado with not everything complete on the trailer. When we were in Beaverton I had my friend take me to home depot to pick up a few things. I forgot to get caulking for the bathtub.

So when we got to Cannon Beach I remembered they had a very, very, small and limited hardware store.

So I told Michelle we needed to swing by for caulking. She said; "I just think you have to go to every hardware store in every town we stop in."
Maybe true

Anyway, I found some caulking in the little room upstairs and went to the check out.

As I walk up to the small check out counter I notice they have 4 beer taps next to the cash register. YEP, IT'S ALSO A BAR. They had 4 micro brews on tap.

A tear came to my eye. Hardware store and micro brews. It's a dream come true....

Michelle and the kids were waiting outside, Michelle with her 3rd coffee/espresso or what ever it was,
I thought: "10am might be a little early for a beer, and If I came out with one WOOOOO would I hear it.

Then I realized they had a little outside drinking area. (another tear)

How could this get any better, a hardware store with micro brews and a little beer garden. Thought I might be able to drink a pint in 5 min. but it was 10 am. ( but I thought it's 5 o'clock somewhere )

No, to early I needed to get going

Man, if only my hardware store was set up like this, I would be down there everyday around 4 pm.

Anyway, this is the best COMBINATION I have ever seen.

So, If you happen by Cannon Beach and need a beer and something from the hardware store, or just want to get away from the wife/kids and know they don't want to go to the hardware store. Just stop by this place. Its up on the south end of town on the north side of the street.

Wish I had taken a Picture..

We really like Cannon Beach, we stayed there a couple of times pre-Argosy. It's a *LONG* way from north Texas so I'm not sure how long it might be before we're there with the trailer, but the beer-garden-hardware-store sounds like a mandatory stop.

Great report; invaluable information. Beer in a hardware store. What could be better? I assume that you are referring to Cannon Beach, Oregon.

As for it being to early for beer, I have just one thing to say:

You can not drink all day if you don't start in the morning.

How handy, I love it. You can lube yourself while you get some lube for the trailer.

I have no idea where Cannon Beach is but sounds like my kind of place. Like a man really needs another excuse to go to the hardware store.☺

Seems like a North West trend! The guys who own the bike shop that I frequent in Hood River also have 3 taps with fresh Northwest micro-brews always available.

In fact, my buddy, the owner, says that the beer alone pays his rent! WHat better than finishing a grueling road or mountain bike ride and setling down over a nice tall draft!

I'm guessing it's this place: Cannon Beach Hardware and Public House.

It's a good idea, a way for a local mom-and-pop to fight the Lowes/Home Depot monster. In Texas if they serve food I think they can open at 10 on Sunday morning, though it may be earlier. I think that's the only time the big boys would gain much advantage for NOT serving beer, but of course that's just Texas. Liquor laws are such a ludicrous patchwork it's beyond funny.

Start project. Go to the hardware store. Drink beer. Botch the fix., go back, drink some more, mess up some more, go back, a never ending cycle, a business plan of genius.

Leonard's in Waco Texas

The only thing better would be if it had barber chairs from the early 1900's for the customers to sit in like Leonard's Truck Parts in Waco Texas.

A full service hardware store is a wonderful thing.

My wife already watches my hardware budget. I guess this would break the bank. Best part is she already knows I can spend over an hour in the hardware store just to pick up a pack of rivets. I wonder if they would franchise?
