The best gift my hubby got me was a 34 footer this year, and the time we have spent in it. so ready for may to come.

The worst is to have 2 Airstreams and unable to use either one at this time, due to the cold. Cold please go away and bring summer back fast.

I love my awnings on all sides - especially when it is cool and a light rain with the windows open, the fresh air coming in, hearing the rain and not getting wet. I just wish the big awning was automatic - can't put it up or down by myself.

kswelsh, you most probably know Zip Dee has a new power awning retrofit kit now. $$$$$ but it's pretty slick.

I know about the power awning - the Airstream Rep was at our dealer in April and told us about it; however, the cost oye yey - not in our budget

The best is yet to come

As it has already been said (for us) the best is yet to come. Henrietta is still being worked on and we have not gone anywhere in it and have owned her just over a year. In a couple of weeks we take our first outing to 4CU Lost Dutchman gathering. It will be safe, and towable but not really camp worthy. We will camp in it anyway because if we wait until its closer to done it could be a long time. Thrilled that we accomplished a bucket list goal of owning a Vintage Airstream, lightly obsessed with it since then and looking forward to all the adventures and making more of life's precious memories.

Best: Each morning I see it in the back yard when I leave for work it reminds me of past memorable trips, anticipation of future trips with family and friends, loading it up for a trip, thinking about the next maintenance/upgrade project and it looks pretty darn cool just sitting where ever it is.

Worst: Unloading after a trip, lack of ducted air conditioning system, the entrance door could be 2" taller and thunderstorms that could contain hail.

Another Best (which was hammered home last night): The low profile aerodynamic design. Was jogging down a quiet country road; a SWB trailer (approximately 30') passed (a little too close for comfort) and the vortex almost blew me into the ditch. I was actually quite shocked by the amount of force. I can't imagine pulling a beast like that.

It would be interesting to see the SWB/ Airstream comparison in a wind-tunnel test. I wonder if this has ever been done?

Best Feature, Worst Feature

The best feature is the iconic aluminum shape so widely recognized. Designed 75 years ago for lightweight, easy towing. Owning one is a unique experience. I think similar to owning a Harley Davidson motorcycle; old design, classic, and expensive. But there is none other like it. You become part of a community of like minded owners. The club.

The worse feature is the lack of head room! All Airstreamers have whacked their heads on the door, or the lockers, or an open window. It's like camping in a Lear Jet: gotta keep your head down.

The best - being inside warm and cozy inside enjoying a drink and relaxing miles from home when it is pouring rain, cold and windy outside.

The worst - being inside when it is freezing cold outside and all my efforts with assorted tools and multimeters just won't get the furnace to keep running!

(Or when I am in a rush to get going early in the morning and my Hensley just wants ti play games with me and doesn't want to hitch up!)

Brian.

The best is relaxing with my family and enjoying such a well made and thoughtfully designed trailer.

The worst is not having near enough vacation time to go on the amazing road trips I see posted here and on the many blogs. The AS sits more than it should.

The best: pulling out of the driveway and seeing SilverLeaf snugly behind me.
The worst: backing into the 70 foot driveway and parking my 8 1/2 foot wide trailer between the 11 foot wide shed!

Why Airstreams Are Unique

Here is a photo showing why Airstreams are special, and why Airstreamers stick together. They are unique and rare. When you see one coming down the highway: flash your lights and wave!

That unique-ness is the best feature for me. Sorry my picture somehow got rotated.

The best part of my Airstream is that after nearly two years of going over it, buying and installing all the stuff, with a few camping sprees, it is well up to date and way better than when purchased.

The worst part is that I currently have so little time to camp! Three weeks is my longest time frame and, that is summer. I long for being able to go on a Caravan.

Worst thing about my Interstate are the udderly impossible to read, bizzarly incomplete, and yet volumenous amounts of owners manuals that come with the thing.

Best things are her minimalist, sleek good looks, and her inherent coziness.
