Back to reality
It is a Sunday morning, and sitting at the key board on the forum site realizing I had a touch of insanity as we considered selling our 1969 27' Overlander.
The back story is that my wife was in a tour bus accident a few years after acquired the "Silver Bullet". She was leading a group of senior citizens in a small tour bus that was run off the road, rolled twice, killed 5 of her group. She was the only one who did not have any physical injuries.
As a result she has PTSD and traveling long distances while towing the AS is tough for her, so we considered selling it.
The process of listing, and dealing with all the "tire kickers" wanting a shinny perfect As for peanuts wore me out, in addition to the scams. While we were cleaning it out and sprucing it up, making a few repairs, we fell in love with it again. (Becky did, I was gong along with her desires)
The decision was made to eliminate the long distance travels and stick to the many great places in Florida close at hand.
This forum and the wealth of advice and feeling of community means a great deal to us. So thank you.
John & Becky, current caretakers of the "Silver Bullet"

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle
Hi John and Becky. That sounds like a great decision. Florida has a lot to offer with some of the best State Parks in the country and many outstanding private RV parks. We're glad that you decided to stick with Airstreaming. There is no greater way to enjoy life. If you get to the Panhandle, look us up.

That’s a great story about adapting and going on.
Your interior looks very personalized and lovely.
May you have many more happy years of camping in your Silver Bullet.

Curators in common
John, thanks for sharing your story. Good lessons for us all.
When operating antique Cessna aircraft, we used the term "Curator" to remind ourselves that we are using the aircraft but not using it up, and so are mindful of those that may come after. Sounds like you think the same about your AS.

I have a 1973 Cessna 150 "Buttercup" that is something I am also the curator of. Lots of common things in an aircraft made from aluminum and the AS.
I direct a high school aviation academy where we are building an aircraft as part of the curriculum, so bending metal and pulling rivets is nothing new.
I'll be 72 in June, so I'll keep flying as long as my health is good, and flying keeps your mind engaged and working, and will travel with the AS around FL exploring our state parks and other areas.
When I recently mentioned selling the plane, Becky said no, I should keep it even though she doesn't like to fly in the cramped 150, so I'm a lucky man.
We did consider selling the AS, but as we cleaned it up from sitting after Covid and such, we both fell in love with it again. I did sell my Honda VTX 1800 Retro motorcycle, so there is more room in the garage and a few extra $ for a new radio in the plane.
The AS goes to the shop on Tuesday for new Goodyear Endurance tires, brakes and wheel bearings and axels being serviced. We'll be on the road again soon.

Welcome Aboard👍
Good on both of you...Life is much more fun on the Silver Side.
As Uncle Gene told me on one of my many birthday present flights. "Flying is like throwing yourself at the ground...and missing."
I loved riding the right seat in his Homebuilt Stitts Sky Coupe.👍

My thought process....if you have the means then keep and enjoy how ever that might be for you. With covid lock down, reservations being cancelled, difficulty with getting our state park reservations I have decided that we will keep it in the shop where we have 30 and 50 amp electric and water access. So what we do is we go "camping" when we want and it doesn't cost us fuel. I have a small campfire in a can and we walk to the campsite instead of drive.
Short story of the post is stay in your trailer where ever it works for you and enjoy, even if that is a shop 40 feet from your house.
