Anyone using Fire Fox?

If you are using FF can do you have it set up to automatically open the site using auto fill to apply your user name and password?

I can no longer sign it without typing them and it is a pain.

If you delete every thing in history will have to type info in. That is what happens to me. Bill

Historically I have always deleted all history on a shut down. In the past that did not effect the auto fill in for this forum. I still delete history on shut down and that does not effect some 25+ other sites as far as auto fill in of UN and PW

The Keep Until Expired is not enabled so can not be selected.

I use Safari, Chrome and Firefox. I do not save my username or passwords in any of the browsers. Too each to be hacked. I have used 1Password for the last 8 years to keep all my personal logins, password, identities, etc. I have it sync with my computer and cell phone, so that I always have info available. It is a great product . . . rated #1. You may want to consider it. https://1password.com/

@floridalarry is absolutely correct. You should not trust your browser.

A 'password safe' such as 1password or Dashlane.com or similar across all your devices is really the best answer. Warning though, there is no back up for the master password used to open your password safe. Forget that password and you lose everything.

Does 1Password address my original question? I want direct access to the Forum without having to type a UN and PW every time I open the site.

You have to have 'accept cookies' checked or it can't store your ID password for you. I use accept cookies, from visited, until they expire, and it stores my login, I just have to click the link.

I have different accounts for forums than for shopping or bill paying. For the sites that need extra security I log in each time and I change my password regularly. I have some schemas that are easy for me to remember, you can use phrases too.

Security questions can have any answer. If you choose "mother's maiden name" as an option, you can use a color, or your high school, or your best friend. You just have to be consistent across all of the questions at all of the sites or you'll get confused.

Yes, as with any site requiring a username and password. Every site that requires an username and password can be added into 1Password and with one click will open any site you have added into 1Password. It is an encrypted username name, password, and personal information program.

I highly recommend a password program as well. Some have fingerprint scanners so that your smartphone doesn't need you to type in your password at all. Hope you find a solution that works for you!

Well I downloaded 1password and tried to get through the set up, but with no instructions I may not have made it.

I thought I set up access to airfourms but it does not open the site.

Now there is no record of 1password on my computer. Not in programs. Not in downloads. So I can't attempt an edit.

The issue is the fact that FF, while it has "Accept Cookies" enabled on my computer it does not have the "Keep Until" option enabled. There is some conflict between FF and the Airforums and Geocaching site that is causing this problem. All other sites react fine and sign in automatically when opened.

HowieE, I am no computer guru but my FF is working fine. I just looked at it and found this.

Under Privacy I have the remember history checked. I also "clear recent history" when I shut down.

Under Security there is a box that says Remember Login for Sites. I have this checked.

Works for me.

If you still have issues, we can meet during the Canopener.

I created a 1password account and added 1 site, airforums, to it. The problem now is there is no way to find or open 1password on my computer. It is not in programs or on the desktop.

I tried to open airforums hopping 1 password might just work. No such luck.

Seams like I am held up by Password helper not running.

If the sign in is UN. account number, PW then opening a vault and selecting a site to open every time this is not worth it.

Do you have "Always use private browsing mode" checked?
Uncheck that and the "keep until" should not be grayed out. You'll have to close and reopen the browser.

That is how my settings are set.

Some progress has been made in the fact that now when I attempt to open either of the sites in question the sign in page appears. As son as i type the first letter of my UN it is presented and when selected the PW is filled in.

This is an improvement but it would be great if I could get back to complete auto fill on these 2 sites.

Don't be discouraged. I have gotten far more workable suggestions here than I have ever gotten off the FF forum.
