So what does the average Airstreamer do when seeing another AS in a CG? I know about blink the lights on the road. We have stayed at many CGs with ASs but only spoken to a few. Made good friends with one at Glacier our 1st year.

Look forward to your comments and how we should move forward.

Wait until someone is outside, walk over, say "Howdy, nice Airstream you have there!" from about 6-8 feet away.

Sufficient to start a conversation or determine if the individual is interested in chatting. The rest follows as normal...😄

I always ask what year is their camper. It's always the first thing people ask me. I have been camping a few times where the other Airstream owner in the campground (because it's usually only one, if there is another one) didn't want to talk at all, but usually it's instant friends...

-Red, nosey Nate...

I don't see the advantage to putting a "no trespassing" sign in the front window anyway. The place to put it is next to the door; anyone coming in through the window isn't trespassing, he's breaking-and-entering.

If he wants to warn people out of his campsite entirely, he needs a "no trespassing" sign stuck in the dirt at the edge of the site to mark his boundary, since there's no fence to show the limits of his (rented) campsite. And even then it would not apply to any campground employees, any more than a stick-and-brick apartment-dweller can keep out his landlord. The property owner's rights trump the property renter's rights.

But that said, his sign in the window would work on me if I saw it. I wouldn't approach his trailer unless he was sitting outside, and even then I'd just say "Hi" and wave as I walked on by, same as I do for any fellow camper.

It is a newest trailer with a door towards the back. so sign is actually in the back window but by the door. Just easy to see on an angle by the laundry.

Guess just needs and wants his space.

They ain't all as friendly as me. I always try to catch Airstreaming neighbors outside and introduce myself. Lots of times I never see them come out of the trailer and then they're gone-

He doesn't like people wandering through his camper uninvited, watching TV, making a sandwich. Fair enough.

No need to fear Sam, and I would not read too much into the various things he has on or around his 2014 Serenity 27'. He was our neighbor for quite a while at Flamingo ENP campground. He may look a little gruff, but he's a good, kind man, Viet Nam vet (enlisted in the Marines in 67). His terrier is a recent rescue, previously abused, blind in one eye, and indeed a little skittish. But they are making their way around the country, like the rest of us! Just say hello! : )
Best,
Joe

Mine says "The LoveStream" on the rear window. Take it however you want...

-Red, wait, not that way... Perverts...

Of course, if it's rocking, he doesn't have his stabilizer jacks down…

Is he a forum member?

After hearing your description,
I'd genuinely like to know his reason for the sign

Well, I would like to think I am not a stalker. My guess is he is not a forum guy and I do not have numbers..maybe this yr and he does not either.

He is a smoker..sitting by the table today because it is warmer but not yesterday. Just cracking the door to smoke..does that qualify as smoke free trailer?

What? How do you know if this person has issues? Perhaps they just want to be left alone and not bothered by people knocking on their door just because they have an Airstream. I think the little smiley face means you really aren't serious....so why say this in the first place?

Bingo. There was a thread not long ago, where the issue of walking up to an Airstream and knocking on the door came up. Some people are uber friendly and want to talk to EVERYONE, especially if they have an Airstream. Others are private and don't like to be approached like that. It certainly does not mean they have "issues." Sheesh.

I say, make eye contact and say something like "nice Airstream, how do you like it?" You will know in an instant if they want to talk. If so then you can introduce yourself and talk until you drop. Respect everyone. Respect the fact that we are all different and refrain from calling someone names or classifying them when you don't know them.

Peace.

It's not a bad idea to give the other guy the same respect you would want for yourself. Maybe he doesn't want to deal with you right now... maybe never. Does he want privacy for a reason acceptable to you? What if you don't understand his reason? His reasons for posting a sign that may offend don't need to be explained. Yes, it's not great public relations in a campground, but it is not against the rules.

If you're interested in talking to another Airstreamer, respect their privacy first, and wait until an appropriate time to find out if they meet your standards.
