I wish you lots of patience, perseverance, good nerves, insightful officials as a control organ, an insurance that knows what is all about an airstream - I've got it soon, I'm in the final sprints...
Greetings from Switzerland - Werner

Helloooo...
The last few days was much busy.
And I'm sorry for not having time to keep you informed.
There was a trip.
The start in France.

Direction South of France to make MackeZie keep at a friends.
Mackenzie is our four-legged buddy.

There was a first plane in Toulouse.

Flight to London.
url=http://zupimages.net/viewer.php?id=17/19/9tp9.jpg]

And then a second plane.

For Phoenix, AZ.

Arrival at the friends of Phoenix.
At Cave Creek more exactly.

New day and new decor for us.

I could see with my eyes my Ford and my Airstream.

And occupy the place with my half.

And also discover the towing machine.

Then.
There was the purchase of essential equipment for the travel.
So I have a little circulated in Phoenix.
And discover life and traffic in the USA.

Also I found not far from the Airstream wheels in aluminum.
To make it prettier.

And I had a problem.
The bolts were too short for these wheels.
It was necessary to that I order on the internet.

Better like this

There was cleaning and preparation.
It took a little time at our friends in Cave Creek.

We kept for the trip the arrangement of the beds.
We only have added to it the "Frolit" system .

And then one morning, we left.

Our first great trip.

Our first step.

And some encounters.

Annoying the lack of language for me.

The Old Route 66. Oatman.

Las Vegas ...
Only to see.

And a technical stop in Saint George.
Because plumbing problems.

But the travel goes on.
Zion Park.

Step to Kanab.

Little tour here.

And also.

Mexican Hat.

A wink to the French friends who follow us on the net.

And again.

To get here :
url=http://zupimages.net/viewer.php?id=17/22/jwxu.jpg]

Muley Point.
A great time for us.
And a beautiful night.

We had planned the crossing of the Lake Powell.
It will not happen.
Because of broken ferry !
Direction taken Moab.

The campground is full this day, there will be Boondocking.

Waiting for a place in Moab.

On Moab's program of festivities, there will be a bit of trail.

And the Arches Park. Of course.

Some Airstream, we see more than in France.

Durango.
There are also Airstream.

And trains too.

And we must take the way back.
Valley of Fire near Carrizozo.

The distances in the USA are very big for us Europeans.
The miles pass in the direction of Houston.

And refueling too.

Thing we appreciate.
Diesel in France is at € 1.20 per liter.
(the equivalent of $ 5.33 / Gal.)
In the USA, $ 2.66 on average.
Nice for us.

Passage by White Sands.

The crossing of Texas is long.
Night passed by chance in Balmorhea.

Last night in our aluminum house.
Here all the emptying will be made.
In anticipation of loading on the vessel.

Our toys lost on this large hotel parking in Houston.
Channelview exactly.

Painful work.
Preparation of luggage for the return.

This is where our toys will be shipped.

Difficult time.
That seems to us to be an abandonment.

Of course. We returned to France by plane.
And we waited for the Airstream and the Ford to arrive in Belgium.

It was.
Our trip to the USA and we adopted our aluminum home.
It was also.
The beginning of another adventure.
I will come back to tell you what follows

This was a great cross USA trip. Wish I could do the same with my Airstream in Europe....but I think many of the roads there are to small for my big Landyacht

Have always dreamed of buying a used Airstream in Europe and following the Tour de France across the whole route to experience the rural areas and culture.

Yes the roads are smaller.
Generally, distances are smaller than in the USA.
Some small villages may cause problems.
But there are large vehicles that also circulate in Europe. So nothing impossible.
But more folkloric. (I'm not sure the word is right.)
What will be most problematic is the campgrounds.
They are usually very complicated access.
Travel trailers are usually small.
A two axles is already unpopular.
Too complicated to maneuver !
I will have this problem.
I would tell you here.

An Airstream in France is very rare.
Even in bad condition it is a luxury.
So very expensive.
Another idea.
Find a used Airstream in the USA. And bring her to France.
Make your trip with, and sell after.
The profit can pay for your trip.
Following the Grande Boucle is very complicated.
When he passes through a city, this city is separated in two the day of passage, and sometimes part of the day before.
Which means that... If one wants to have a good place to see pass the turn.
In the climb of a pass for example. Sometimes you have to be there two days in advance.
Because... The good places are envied. And the day of the tour and sometimes the day before, the traffic is impossible.

Thanks for the insight on traveling in Europe with an Airstream. If I could do that trip planning to bring a used trailer would be the best option. I think many of the Airstream owners that traveled to Europe in past years also sold their trailers before leaving.

I will be watching the bike race next summer so hope to see your shinny Airstream somewhere along the route.

Congratulations on the purchase and successful trip and importation to France. You had a dream and you made it happen! That is a huge endeavour you accomplished! There is much to see in North America who knows maybe you will do it all over again "to pay for a another trip"

What a great trip! Thanks for sharing the photos. We lived in France for several years in the late 1980s and would enjoy pictures of your travels in Europe! Mike

The rest of the adventure.

After I left my my vehicles at Galveston Harbor, it happened bad things.
The Ford was vandalized.
The mirrors were stolen.

And also the dashboard.

I was warned by the charterer.
Everything was loaded on the ship like this.
I was very worried during the transport.

But...

It arrived at the port of Zeebrugge in Belgium.
I took back possession of my toys.

It is with US car I made the trip to Belgium.
There were already US things at home.
My toys were there among other machines.
I was so happy to find them.

I had ordered the pieces that were stolen and that could be damaged.
With a friend,
we have everything re-assembled on the port.

And we returned home.
Now, there is a little bit of America in a French garden.

It is very moving for us to have these vehicles that have traveled us so far.

The rock guard was only cracked in the USA.
Strange. It was missing a piece on arrival in Europe.

Now the adventure takes another form.
Renovation, Repair, beautification is on the program.

Should I do another topic for this ?

Hellooo...

The adventure in the USA is over.
The "Roulotte Alu" arrived in France.

This is where the adventure continues.
There will be work to restore good condition. And to the preferences of the new owners.
And also adaptation to the European connection systems.

This is a new topic.
