After nine long months of waiting!!

After nine long months of waiting our new 2021 International 30rbt has arrived! We took delivery from Colonial Airstream in NJ (Patrick was our salesperson, call him if you're looking to buy a new trail) this past weekend. All I can say is WOW!! From the trailer exceeding our expectations, to the dealership, setup and delivery plus spending the night in the parking lot with 30 AMP service next to their dog park with a great view of NJ farmland in the background...not your typical RV lot.

I'd like to thank this forum for all the help and advice as we made our way through this process and I will be reaching out with many questions as we become seasoned Airstreamers.

Our TV choice is a 2021 Ram 2500 cumins with AirRide, Ram Boxes and Blue ox WD hitch that we took delivery in March, we got luck in getting the truck we wanted with all the COVID/chip shortages that are killing the auto industry. The trip from NJ back home to the Boston area, 285 mile went smooth (other than the typical NJ and NY traffic). We did experience some proposing when we got on the NJ Turnpike south of Newark but that ended as soon as we got off that road. I will be double checking my weights once loaded for camping at a CAT scale to double check the WD hitch setup and proper air pressure setting for the trailer (they sent us out at the max 80psi, any recommendations are welcome with this debatable topic).

Look forward to meeting you on the road and making many new friends (we made two new friend the night we spent at the dealer who also had taking delivery). If this is any indication of the Airstream community my wife and I can't wait to dive in (maybe we already did...lol).

Hi

Congratulations !!!!!

All new rigs feel a bit weird at first. Mostly it's just you getting used to how it rides. Most certainly do check the weights and pressures. Just don't be to surprised if they all come out looking fine.

Enjoy !!

Nine months… and now you’ve got your baby!
It reminds me of what our realtor told us as my wife endured the hot summer of ‘ 85, carrying (inside of her) our first child: “Nothing lasts forever!” Take heart, all you other “waiters”.
Congratulations, Roadagain, now the fun starts!

CONGRATS! That is so exciting! We expect (hope is more like it) to be joining the "International owners club" with a 25 FBT with Hatch in August. 9 months is such a long wait and I am so excited for you guys to have this finally! I am also a bit jealous about how Colonial offers the overnight experience. I really think all AS dealers should do this. I think they should offer options for overnight stay as well as tow practice for new owners, but I know a lot of dealers do not have the space. We would have gone to Colonial if we didn't live in California.

Are you happy with the Coastal Cove? Our 2022 is supposedly the same interior and we are getting aqua. It looks amazing from the photos and videos we have seen, but its really difficult to order sight unseen. The closest we have seen is a 3 year old 25 foot globetrotter and a 4 year old 27 flying cloud. Stepping into those was definitely enough for us to realize that we loved the feel and the space and the layout. But we didn't love the interior in those years itself. So it feels weird to purchase without seeing. I know exactly how it should look in my mind, but it might be different when we actually see ours.

Congrats again and not just on the AS but also the TV. We ran into the same issue and just got so lucky to get 90% of what we would have wanted in a 2021 Ram 2500 but people were literally in line to get the one we were able to get to first. Crazy times!

Once you load thetrailer up and run through the CAT Scale you should check those tire pressures. Our 2013 FC 30 RBQ rides well at 70 psi.

Congratulations on getting your new AS and TV. I have the same truck (with RamBoxes, air ride and Cummins) and love it. Colonial, and Patrick, are a first class act! Glad the intro went well.

You mentioned about meeting fellow ASer's and making friends. I would highly recommend joining the AS Club (Airstreamclub.org). You will meet more people and make more friends!

Wishing you safe travels!

Thanks,

We do love the coastal cove interior and like you bought it sight unseen. Ours has the gray seashell fabric. The new counter and cabinet colors all work so well together...It truly feels like you are in a first class hotel. The wait will be worth it!!

Congratulations!! What a nice looking rig!!

FYI, I am also one of those in "wait mode", ordered a 27ft Globetrotter on 31 March. Dealer (Toscano RV in Los Banos) is estimating early November..8 months...although I am expecting it to take longer...

Congratulations! You have a great looking set up.
I'm sure once you get your tire pressure and Blue Ox dialed in, it will be smooth sailing for many years of fun to come.

not level

Congrats on the new RIG Looks a little "rear down" on the TV. TV should be a little more level with trailer. Not sure that's where you porpoise motion is coming from.

Also there have been a few posts on this site and other RV sites about Air Bags on the Doge and the proper way to adjust them, or "fine tune" them with the WD hitch.

All the best from my "Mighty Mite" 16' AS. Bob

Congrats. I'd be interested to see how that 2500 pulls your rig. I just got one (minus air ride) and I'd think a trailer like yours would be at the top of the capability I'd care to pull with this truck.

We now have over 2000 miles on the combo and can't say enough good things about the TV. The Ram with the cummins is a beast. Tows and stops like a dream. Had to play with the gain and brake/trailer type and settled in on Light trailer mode and a gain of 4.5. I'm using a Blue OX set on the seventh link on the chain. The Air Suspension levels the tailer nicely and I like the ability to be able to lower in 5 inches when I'm hooking and unhooking the rig. I am at the top of the payload when loading with 4 adults but for the most part it will be just my wife and I. I do wish that RAM would increase the payload rating like GM does for their diesel trucks but it is what it is and the 3500 ride was just a little harsh for my everyday driving.
