Unknown brand doorknob - any guesses?

I can find no markings, and it's certainly not from Bargman's coveted "L" series.

I would have left this in place except there's no interior handle. Looks to have been chromed originally, has that great stair-stepped escutcheon... and is a very large piece -- bigger than the modern replacements available from Valterra.

If anyone recognizes it, I'd sure love to find another one so I don't have to modify any of the holes in the door.

Help to know what year and model it's on. It was common in the early years to install household doorknobs on them.

Have you taken the lock apart and inspected the innards? There should be a stamp of some kind on one of the pieces inside IMO.

My first reaction on seeing the photos was that it looked like a residential lock set, and not necessarily from the 1950's. Ditto for the deadbolt, that looks residential also, and more modern IMO. Is there some text inside that flat diamond shape under the keyway in the deadbolt? And does the deadbolt's plate on the door edge say "WEBER" ?

What is the backset of the main shaft's centerline from the edge of the door?

PS -- Edit -- May be a Schlage residential lockset? Tulip style?

Thanks -- I'd looked at it pretty closely and saw nothing. Tonight in steeply raking light I'm able to make out a faint stamp inside the escutcheon... looks like CWMP or CUMP. Still googling, but nothing yet.

Thanks for the advice -- they may be later, but the deadbolt isn't too much later. It's a Weiser, and uses their 50s-60s era logo. I had it re-keyed the other day and it's as good as new. Really didn't want to mess with the holes already in the door.

I'll keep hunting.

The exterior of the deadbolt sure does not look like it is from the 1950's to these eyes.

PS -- According to Wikipedia Schlage was started in 1920 in San Francisco, and that Tulip shape knob has been in their line since the 1960's at least, because I remember installing some back then, when they were considered good looking. It is possible that Schlage had an RV line of locks back then?

Good lead - I'll look into Scalage and see if I can't nail down this wonderful cast escutcheon. It's wide and heavy. I'll figure out that stamped name inside eventually, too. Just may need a better set of eyes looking at it.

PS in the company history linked earlier, in the 1950 item a few acquisitions are mentioned, if you recognize the names as possible lock mfg.: California Lock Company, Peabody, and LCN Closer.

Airstream was based partially in CA until 1978 or so, before it moved fully to Jackson Center, so maybe some local CA lock mfg. supplied them for a while?

Your knobset looks to be a old Harlock or maybe Weslock brand, a pic of the latch behind the rose or shaft base would help to I.D. it.

Not original. Vintage trailer supply has one that might work, depending on backset etc.

This brushed stainless steel entrance lockset is keyed on the outside and has a turn button on the inside for locking at night when you're sleeping.

Fits doors 1-3/8" thick to 1-3/4" thick.

Backset must be either 2-3/8" or 2-3/4".

The knobs protrude 2-1/2" both inside and outside.

The knobs are 1-7/8" diameter.

The escutcheon is 2-1/2" diameter both inside and outside.

Comes with 2 keys.

Is the original door at least 1 3/8" thick?

Also, guessing the existing backset is less than 2 3/8" but hard to tell from the angle of the photo.

I learned the name of the manufacturer - Decker products out of Chicago - and that many people with circa-1957 / 58 trailers, not just Airstreams, have these as *possibly* original handles.

The inside escutcheon has a unique feature where you push it up or down to lock the door from the inside. Since my interior assembly is gone, I couldn't have known about this. I have a copy of the original instructions that came with these locksets, and I'll try to remember to post it soon.
