Rear storage drawer

We have a 1999 31W with a flat drawer under the rear of the trailer that I don't know how to remove to clean, plus it fills up with road dirt when travelling. Does any one know how to fix this problem?

I have a 96 with this drawer which is used for hose storage. I have not had a problem with any large collection of road dirt. It does get some dirt from the hoses which have been laying on the ground. I clean everything out once or twice a year and use my shop vac to pick up the small dirt accumluation. My hoses are stored with there ends connected to keep any dirt out of the hoses. My drawer has drains to allow any water to drain from the drawer.

Rear storage drawer

Thanks for your comment. Basically ours is useless because of the dirt issue. Our clean white water hose is now grey and unappetising. The new one is kept under the bed.
I will check and see if there is a seal missing, but the whole unit seems to be enclosed. Maybe it needs caulking.

Geri,
I was at the storage lot yesterday to do some work on the trailer and checked the drawer. The drawer is enclosed by the belly pan on three sides and the bottom. The only way for dirt to get in is from the rear where the drawer slides out. As the drawer is part of the bumber the only opening is about 1/16" in the bumper at both sides and top.

Sounds like some weatherstrip would do wonders for you. I would visit HD or Lowes and prowl the racks to find what would work.

I think most all the dirt that gets into the drawer comes from the hose which has been laying on the ground or my sewer hose support. We might get some road dirt when driving on a dirt or gravel road. I don't consider the small amount of dirt I clean out once or twice a year a real problem. The hose will start to turn grey after a while just from laying on the ground but as long as it is clean inside all is OK. Two of my hoses are at least 10 years old and don't look too bad.
