Outside refrigerator access door
Can anyone tell me where I can find the outside access panel for the fridge on a 72 tradewind. I have search several parts sites and only have found one for a mid 80's that is not the same size. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Access Door
Inland RV makes access doors. I just got one for my 67 globetrotter and was really impressed with the quality. Now if I could only find someone who can put louvers in my fridge access door for better airflow that would be swell.

Don't go for the louvers.
But instead, go for a solar powered fan. Place the fan over the screening that's in the floor and have it blow the air upward. Place the solar cell on top of the reefer vent cover.
The solar powered fan, will always work when the sun is out. That's also when the ambient temperature becomes the highest. As the sun goes down, the fan slows down and quits. When it quits, you don't need it anyway.
I think Harbor Freight has them. just a small "muffin" fan will do.

That door was only made by Airstream.
What is the dimensions of the part of the door frame, that the door rests in?
Airstream may still have them, or, try a salvage yard.

Try a shop which works on street rods.

Why is it useful to have a fan moving air around the fridge? My fridge access door isn't louvered and I have a screen on the floor. there's an interior vent that goes the the rooftop vent. I haven't connected my fridge yet and would like to know if it would be ideal to install a solar fan on top of my floor screen before I complete the fridge installation. thank you

The backside of the reefer, must have air flowing from it's bottom to the top.
Your Airstream has a hole in the floor and one in the ceiling.
That creates a chimney. The reefer must be sealed into place so that the chimney works. Installing a fan in that area, makes the chimney effect work even better. The better the chimney, the better the reefer will cool, especially in the hotter months.

Andy is very right about the fan. it makes a noticeable difference in hot weather. Sometimes when it's real hot outside we open the compartment door and blow an electric fan over the coils. G

Looking for refrigerator access door 68 Trade Wind
Does anyone know if Inland RV is still making refrigerator access doors? I would like to find one for my 1968 Trade Wind. I am bumping this thread back up from last year. I've searched the web site of Inland and can't find them there.
Thanks,
Anne

The thermal cycle should be enough air movement to do the job as long as the bottom and top screens are free of obstruction. The louvered doors act as the bottom screen for units without holes in the floor. When units run on gas, I don't believe you would want to create a un natural draft and risk blowing pilots out on pilot models.
