Outdoor shower door lock

I can insert the key and wiggle it in the slot but am unable to unlock the outdoor shower door. I tries some silicone but it did not help. Any suggestions short of forcing it open?

The shower door and fresh water key is different than the storage key, perhaps that is the issue?

I have tried both keys and I get the same response.

Have you tried pushing in on the door while trying to turn the key? Sometimes if the hose and head haven't been put in "just so", they push out on the door and put the latch into a bind. Pushing in a little lets the latch return to its flat position and it can be turned.

In addition to the pushing trick, get a paper clip or a lock pick and stroke the tumblers to try to free them up. It is most likely a stuck tumbler. WD40 or corrosionX will help a lot more than a silicone lube if the tumblers are corroded.

Had this exact thing happen. The lock hasp had rusted itself to the strike plate. You need to break that bond. Try rapping on the lock with a hammer lightly but firmly. Hard to get lube back there with the door closed.

When you get it open, wire brush both sides and lube it up.

My locksmith says to only use WD-40 on outside locks because it is an excellent moisture inhibitor.

The locks can rust. We just drilled it out last week. Before doing so, know the lock is a specialty lock made exclusively for AS, ranging from $35-$75. Looks like every other lock, but it’s measurements are unique to them. We had to drill a bigger hole into the shower door and manipulate a similar lock. Good luck.

A combination of WD 40 and tapping the lock solved my problem.
