Keys missing

Hi All
I continue to work on the systems on our recently purchased gem....
I have no keys for my 73 Argosy 24. The locks appear to be functional. I read recently that it is a must to get key blanks from the manufacturer. Is this the way to go ? Can any locksmith do the job? The trailer is not tow-able at present.
Thanks for your advise as always..
Ron

I got a water-door key from OasisRV in Tucson, and I believe Outdoorsmart has many different keys also. I think the things are fairly generic. good luck!

Keys

We had the locks changed in our 1978 Argosy Minuet 6.7 m. at a FULL service local locksmith. He had all of the blanks for the locks. Your locksmith needs to be FULL service locksmith so that he has many to choose from. Most large cities will have one.
Are the locks currently locked??Some here on the forums have suggested just drilling them out and then replacing the whole mechanism. It might be cheaper than picking them then finding keys.

try calling the factory with the vin number of the trailer and see what they suggest. they might have the key codes of file. i believe the compartment keys are common and the door has about 100 different combinations. the water key is very common.

Good news and bad.

There is a good chance your tumblers are worn to the point that other Airstream keys of that vintage will also work.

Thanks to all. I will start with Out of DoorsMart and then to factory.
Good to hear that other than the door the other compartments may be common.
I will next ask for some advice on holding tanks and main sewer drain as the owners manual I just got does not look like what I have. There is no outlet in front of the rear bumper on my 1973 ??
Confusion reigns!!

Any good Full service LOCK SMITH will or should have the blanks to make keys. If the locksmith you choose it GOOD he can make keys without having to make a copy. The locksmith I use had blanks in stock. He has made keys for every lock I own.

You're welcome to all the keys that I have that don't seem to fit anything on the mo/ho.
