insulating the aft under bed storage

Hmmm, I just opened one of the storage hatches in the rear of my AS and it was air conditioned! Well, i guess i knew that, but it was kind of shocking. I am not sure I want to continue cooling that area. anybody got any ideas for insulating this area and sealing it off from the "living" area? Anyone done such nonsense or is it a waste of time? This would definitely be a future project...

That area is not air conditioned in it's own right but rather just sees air flow from the trailer interior. If the door seal is reasonably good it would be a waste of time. The complete trailer shell is already insulated, to what ever extent that is, and the door and it's seal is the only area that is below that standard.

I find the biggest area of infiltration between the storage and interior areas is the ruff cut panel that supports the bed mattress at the head end, double beds. In winter put my clean sweat suit around the head end of the mattress to keep the cold air that comes up from the storage area.

Hi! M y storage compartment under the street side bed in the 345 is not air conditioned but does have a duct from the rear heater. I guess this is to keep the water tank and water pump from freezing. I plan on moving the duct since in Texas I have only been below freezing 6 days in 3 years.Pete

folks comment on how their a/c does not cool efficiently; 1) bigger a/c 2) reduce heat absorbtion 3) reduce area to be cooled. #3 is why I asked this question-why condition a space that you do not live in? Plus as indicated, in cold weather, apparently some coolness comes in from below. I think I will insulate that area to reduce the energy it takes to heat/cool it. I will keep the water tank area heated, tho.
