eliminating hinge on rear compartment door
Hello, while replacing the floor in the back of a 95 Excella, I noticed that the rear compartment door didn't fit properly, and that water had been leaking through the hinge. A few dabs of caulk on the rivet head holes did not stop the leaks. After removing the door, I saw that the door must have been removed at least once before because the rivet holes were elongated.
I'm inclined to eliminate the hinge completely and patch the holes. I'm thinking of adding 2-4 latches, maybe such as those on the AS windows, to hold the door in place against the gasket. Has anybody done this already?
