Door Repair / Northern Arizona

We acquired our lovely 1974 Airstream Sovereign with the door, unfortunately, severely sticking out on the top and bottom (most likely from the door swinging open while traveling at some point in its life).

Looking for any and all opinions on how to fix this (i.e. can we fix it on our own or is it sticking too far out and we should seek professional help?).

We are located in Northern Arizona and don't believe this Airstream is in any condition to travel very far for a repair (replacement axels may take up to 10 weeks to receive). If anyone knows of someone or someplace who may be able to repair this door, we will gladly take any recommendations.

Y'all are the best.

Did you see this this?

Only two years older, the door may fit?

I have a '65 Caravel with a cast door frame, it sticks out like that due to the frame being cracked through latch holes. That'll be a welding job.
Good luck.....

You should watch this video:
It's for a newer trailer than yours, but the principles may apply. The newer trailers have a riveted door, not a cast door. I don't know what type you have.

Exactly my thought too. I know I have seen at least one thread on building a JIG to properly repair a cast door. Will try to find with my somewhat lame search skills to find it.

The door on your coach is the same as the current door less the window. The methods described in the video will work. Over the years I and our shop repaired many doors like yours. The most common cause was the door opening on the road which slams it pack against the side of the coach and takes the curve out. Definitely fixable.
