Deadbolt locks

Has anyone installed a deadbolt on their entry door. Do you have pictures of installation?

Use the Search function at the top of the page! I use the Google option to get more *streamlined* results. I typed in "install deadbolt" and got several threads like these:

Adding a dead bolt, weakens the door frame.

That can be minimized by using the smallest striker bolt that you can, something in the order of a 1/4 inch hole.

Simply slamming the door with a large hole for the bolt, can and often does lead to a warped door frame.

When I'm at home, all doors are double locked and my monitored alarm is set. When I camp in my AS, I only have the single lock.

Course, I always have my two barkers (woof). Which is effective when they're not in the land-of-nod.

Is there any other way to improve security in an AS while camping? Maybe a portable door alarm that will sound I guess....

You can get that bilingual large dog, that barks like a huge dog, and roars, like a huge Lion.

A door alarm would be good, but it would not work, if somone went in and out of a window. An interior motion alarm would work, but by then, it's too late.

I once saw a sign on an Airstream trailer, placed next to the door that said:

CAUTION. This trailer contains an explosive device as security.

Unfortunately, campgrounds turned the owner away.
