The "nylon" stricker pocket was used in the late 60's, only.
A metal striker pocket was always used with the KT lock.
When Airstream switched to the cast striker pocket, best I remember in 72, they also used a "brass" shim in the pocket that the striker bolt actually rested on instead of the cast striker pocket.
The brass shim stopped the abnormal wear on the striker bolt, but in time, in can also wear since it's very thin.
Most owners have no idea that the brass shim is even a part of the striker pocket, which then leads to a groove being worn into the striker bolt.
That brass part can be seen if the striker pocket is closely examined. Nothing to take apart.
