Thank you all so much. It meant a lot to us that Andy took time to call.
Yes, he will be transferred to Tampa over the weekend. Apparently there are only 3 surgeons in the state of Florida who can do the pelvis repair succesfully, and the only one available is in Tampa. The surgery apparently take 3-4 hours and the recovery is slow and painful. Terry is full of surprises. When he came out of the surgery to put the pin for traction in his leg, the surgon informed us the head of the femur had broken off, and that is what caused it to jam into the pelvis and cause the pulverization of the lower paert of the fracture. They were able to get better x-rays when they knocked him out.
My niece has come to the front and offered me a place to stay, because with him being out of work...
Anyway I will keep every one informed. Thanks to all of our forum friends.
And yes, there will be many more A/S rallies in our future.
Marie

Bob,
The scooters are done. The carcass of the one he was on is in the back of Moose, waiting for my son to get here so we can get pictures and unload it.
Our attorney is "Dewy, Cheatem, and How", and the 22 year old that hit him does have insurance.
We met twice with the attorney yesterday and all you could see in his eye was dollar signs. I told Terry if he wanted to retire we could have found a better way.
They are giving him Morphine through his IV, and after the tech set up the traction last night the nurse came in and gave him 4 mg and he nodded off, so I came home and got some rest.
The physicians, and boy are there a lot of them, said if he had not had the helmet on he probably would not have lived. WEAR HELMETS EVEN ON BIKES.
Again, thank you all for your prayer and good wishes as it means a lot to us.
Now I have to do the laundry, get his humongous tool box from firestone and pack for the unscheduled trip to Tampa. I am taking his lap top with me so I can keep in touch.

Marie

Good luck Marie. Best wishes for Terry's speedy recovery. If you need anything feel free to call. I am just up the road from Tampa about 2.5 hours.

Hi all,
Not much new to report tonight. The plans remain to transfer Terry to Tampa General Hospital tomorrow. Whether by air or ambulance we still don't know. He is trying to keep his spirits up, or it the morphine high!
They are finaly feeding him real food, but it is hard to eat when you are flat on your back, and you can't watch tv when your glasses are destroyed. They are so scratched up from the accident that he has to read between the lines. (that is my son's line not mine)
Will keep you posted and again thank you for your prayers and thoughts
Marie

Marie, Thanks for the update. We're all thinking about you and Terry and your family. But remember (during all this grief, pain, inconvenience, emotional and financial stress...) that current technology is amazing, and Terry will come out of this a bionic man. And by the way, he does need to eat, so make sure they provide a way/food for him to get decent nutrition for healing. You too!
Yours,
Nurse Ratchet

Our thoughts and prayers are with you! You guys needs some good blessings coming your way. Good luck on the transfer tomorrow, hopefully he will get the quick and easy flight, rather than the drive from Fort Meyers to Tampa.

Give him our best, we will miss his biting wit around here until he gets upright again.

Just noticed that you're also a nurse. That will hold you in good stead, but be sure that you get to be the wife first.
All the best,
Janet

Terry and family, I'm so sorry for your misfortune. I hope you are up and around soon, and can get back into your normal routine. Of course, part of that routine has been your participation here - I hope to see you back here soon.
Keep your head up, a positive outlook makes a world of difference both in your general attitude and your physical recovery.
See you soon here,
Dave

Marie, you and Terry continue to be in my prayers. Thankfully you have a trauma orthopod reasonably close, albeit nearly 150 miles away. I've seen the trauma guys do amazing things with horrendous pelvic and acetabular fractures and seen patients do very well.

Give Terry our love. And from one nurse to another, take care of you, and don't forget to stop and breathe once in a while.

Thanks,
