What's this for???

Does anybody know what the purpose is of the extra aluminum edge fitted to the kerbside of this 59 tradewind? There is non fitted to the streetside, According to the owner (who didn't fit it) there is absolutely no sign of damage on the inside or outside.......

thx Wiebe

I don't see aything unusal. If you mean the channel strip on the top edge near the top that is for the vintage type awning. The awning will have a rope sewn along it's edge that is fed into the channel.

Another look for me is what appears is a rub rail trim midway up the rear corner. I can't help you with that. It may be to cover some minor damage. If it isn't repeated on the streetside it was definitely added. You could duplicate it on the streetside if it bothers you. I would not consider removing that trim, however.

The only thing that makes sense is it covers a long scrape on that side.
