What Theme From Airstream Would Really Turn Your Crank?
Was just perusing the Pendleton-themed Airstream thread.
Some like it.
Some don't.
But, most like the idea of a limited-edition themed Airstream - for the "fun" factor. It would also appear that if they really loved a theme, an upgrade would be seriously considered, depending on price etc. (Same would apply to those looking for their first Airstream).
So...am wonder this: What from the factory theme would you like to see next?
Here's a few of mine.....
- aviation (Airstream has always been closely associated with aviation vis-a-vis its monocoque design etc.)
- am not a Star Wars fan, but this theme would certainly raise a ton of interest
- Wizard of Oz
- Hollywood Glamping
- Foodie Lovers
- Dog Lovers
- Banksy
-*Pop-art (below)
And yours?........

Union Pacific. Gotta love a vintage railroad theme. A Pullman bed in an Airstream would be just the thing!

How about a long distance caravan theme. Larger tanks, heavy duty suspension and tires, solar, etc, more utilitarian interior. Wn I see pictures of the African, around the world, China or other long caravans I can see a more basic, survivalist AS. What do you guys think.?

But it would need a cool name to go along with the theme for marketing purposes. Serengeti, Outback, Marco Polo would all fit your concept, depending on decor…

SIL gave us Pullman blankets for Christmas. They look really neat in the A/S.

Don't need a theme. All I need is good design a perception of value. Themes are for play parks.

I often thought it would be neat to do an even more aerodynamic model, an SS so to speak.
Built in A/C unit, flush skylights return to the 70's low profile round roof vents, the original CCD tank cover, underbody air management for the tires and tanks, a front air splitter and suspension that lowers a highway speed
Use the interior of a Chrysler Airflow for the interior inspiration, hook it up to a Challenger Hellcat and go for the land speed record.

Our early life of combined 58 years Navy service has been shaped by ships and airplanes. My hobbies are architecture and art, she can make anything by hand. Our Airstream felt like home as soon as we stepped inside.
Our retirement life is becoming shaped by travel, love of National Parks, and lakeside living at home. I'm thinking of some rich red or green leather lounge chairs, some rustic accessories, fir wood floor, a barometer we can see and a clock we can hear, a wood lamp with decorative shade, amber light. Wood finish lawn chairs. Got the wool Pendleton blankets last fall. Love the smell of a hardwood fire and good pipe tobacco. Little glass of bourbon. Got to be careful, it's a tiny cabin. And dang, quit smoking/drinking 35 years ago.

Add shaved door handles, recessed awning, a spoiler on top to hold it down, and goggles. Fins. need fins.

You're no fun…
I probably wouldn't buy a themed Airstream, either, but I'd make a special trip to my dealer to check one out and either admire it or poke fun at it, depending on how well-executed the theme is.

I know, but as an architect I tend to take design too seriously. I look at the Pendleton edition and shake my head. They want how much for a few blankets and throw pillows, rustic looking laminate and a set of enamelled tin dishes?

I'm surprised no one has brought up the Pamela Anderson playboy Airstream. It was unique (thank GOD).

Until I retired a year ago, I was gainfully employed as a mechanical engineer, so I was probably even less fun. Or at least I had less of an aesthetic sense, because engineering is all about "form follows function" and it didn't matter if a design was ugly as sin as long as it worked as it was supposed to.
But this thread is just a thought exercise, not a Thor Industries marketing survey, so who cares whether any given concept is practical or how much it would cost?
