In fact I picked up on the aviation theme from the beginning. My aluminum and rivet 19' International so resembled my favorite airplane of my past that I named it after the C-47 DC3 I flew in during the late '60s in SE Asia. Its tail number was N650K or "50 KIP" for short. My avitar is a photo of 50KIP after it was retired from US service.

I would like an NRA theme with at least one gun safe.
Kalishnikof Kurtains, Springfield sheets and pillow cases, Ruger dinnerware and maybe some Mossburg wine glasses.

Hey Andy;
More aerodynamic is good, even if the taillights ARE installed backwards.
(SUPPOSED to be aerodynamic right?)

I think the airplane theme would be easiest. Several guests have entered the AS and commented how much it seems like an airplane. Ours is a Flying Cloud with all the interior aluminum. Even the overhead bins look like an airplane. Maybe include a nice-looking stewardess or two? Oops! I'm sounding old and sexest.

Capturing both the airplane and Mad Men themes - how about something in the vein of the TWA lounge at JFK within the iconic aluminum shell?

In the early 80s, I did a lot of travel on a TWA redeye from LAX to JFK (on a Lockheed L-1011 if anyone remembers those....a 2-5-2 configuration which on frequently nearly empty redeyes meant you could grab a row of 5 seats, flip up the arms and treat it like a bed &#128515.

Here's a few inspirational shots of the old TWA lounge to imagine the possibilities...

A light interior cottage style or an Art Deco Fiesta Ware style.

Couldn't tell from the small photo - was 50 KIP a.k.a. Puff the Magic Dragon?

I sure remember the L-1011. My cousin flew one for Air Canada. His favourite airplane from a comprehensive logbook; he considers it to be the most under-appreciated airliner in history.

Lots of interest in a vintage aviation theme. Let's hope Airstream is keeping tabs!

Hi, DC-3 or whatever the TWA triple tail plane was. Could be used for both a trailer or a motorhome.

The iconic Lockheed tri-rudder airliner of the 50s, in addition to the oil storage behind each radial engine, had a 150 gallon oil tank inside the body and the flight engineer had to move it around between the four radial engines. My father said that on some of his flights West from Ireland across the Atlantic, sometimes an engine or two would be shutdown to conserve the engine oil so all four could be running during the approach and landing.

One rainy day, Destination Tokyo on the telly did cause me to flash on the idea of a sub theme. I had thought about changing the aft skylight to a hatch. The idea of pipes and cable runs (steam punk) for decoration would seriously cut into the living space, as the cramped passageways on those diesel subs.

Al and Missy, what does a Pullman blanket look like? Where can I find one? My grandfather was a Pullman conductor at Union Terminal in Cincinnati and that would be so fun. I remember him mentioning that he met Red Skelton.

Given that Airstreams are already more expensive than their competitors, might was well do a more exclusive version.

Why not do a polished aluminum skin, as in the old days? That's the thing everyone remembers anyway, and why I probably will always stay with the older ones.

I love the idea of extra attention to aerodynamics, as it just looks cool.
Retro elements, like painted wheels and baby moon hubcaps?

It would be a great platform for a number of different decor styles as have already been mentioned. Vintage Hawaiian kitsch for me, thanks.
