What Grills, Griddles, Smokers are ya'll using?

We are coming out of a 42' toy hauler and going to a 27' GT. We are ready for the down sizing to begin and cookers, etc. are a good place to start. We currently carry a Green Mountain Grill-Davy Crocket pellet smoker, a Weber Q grill, a Weber charcoal grill, a Blackstone Griddle, a Coleman stove, a single burner butane stove, and an air fryer. Like I said we are ready to make the change. I am thinking the "must haves" will be. A Traeger Ranger, the Blackstone, the air fryer, and the single butane burner. What do you think and what are ya'll using? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. FYI there are a variety of older threads that touch on "grill smoker" topics:

https://www.google.com/search?q=gril...=airforums.com

There are over 800 posts in the "Best Portable Grill" thread alone: https://www.airforums.com/forums/f48...ill-20888.html

. . . which is in the "Stella's Kitchen" sub-forum: https://www.airforums.com/forums/f484/

We use a simple Weber Smoky Joe charcoal grill: https://www.amazon.com/Weber-40020-P...2310227&sr=8-4

Hopefully we will all be getting on the road again soon!

FYI

Yes, and thank-you. Most times I will use the search feature. But, I also like posting new threads, even if the subject has already be covered. It gives folks something to do, reposting. Lots of search features are nightmares. And if if someone feels the subject has already been covered, they can always move along and not say anything. Its all good.

Weber Q grill converted to work on the low pressure LP port on the airstream. Actually bought it from Airstream. Also to that added the removable griddles. That plus a 2 burner Coleman propane stove is about all the outdoor cooking we need. Oh and the cart for the Q grill comes in real handy.

Grills, griddles

We having been using our Blackstone 17'' Table Top Griddle quite a bit when we camp. It is very easy to carry around.
Have also used a Weber Q, but a lot more to lug around.

Also we have gotten into Dutch Oven Cooking. Several threads on this on the Forum.

Wow, that's a hell of an arsenal! Definitely camping near you guys to see what's cooking.

We got one of those Volcano grills after hearing about it on this forum. Packs down small, can use with coals or with optional propane burner. Perfect for the 2 of us.

When going with a group and a bigger spread is being planned, then we toss in a 3 burner Camp Chef and cast iron griddle that goes on it. It hooks up to the TT gas line. And a big "Cowboy Cooker", a 2 1/2' diameter charcoal cooker that we can put a 2' paella pan on. But these are heavy items.

Camp food always tastes better!

Nitzo, I guess the type of burner you need depends on what you like to cook. There’s as many types of cookers as there are opinions. We don’t like to carry a bunch of different grills for a bunch of different meals. I carry the Eastman Kahuna outdoor burner with large pot and wok brackets with adjustable and removable legs. It’s very compact. I modified an 18” plow disc with handles and wooden grips that we pack. I can cook just about anything on the steel disc we want. It can accommodate a meal for two or eight. Good luck in finding the one that meets your wants and needs.

We use Weber Q and a 2 burner Blackstone griddle. Both are set to run off the quick connect propane. The Blackstone came with a canvas case and we carry the Weber in a storage bin. Weber good for grilling and the Blackstone is great for all kinds of meals, especially breakfast.Click image for larger version

On the road, we use a modified volcano (older model without the propane option), primarily with lump charcoal. I repurposed a cast iron grill grate to make grilling a beautiful thing! I always use the volcano smoking hood to finish. This setup also works great in conjunction with a dutch oven.

When space isn't an issue and I don't mind doubling up on grills, I'll carry our little Stok table top propane grill with the pizza stone. We will make a homemade pizza at least once nearly every trip out!

At home, I love, love, love our little Akorn Jr. for smoking and grilling. It's small enough to take on the road and I'm tempted to do so. Click image for larger version

We love the blackstone! I tried a coleman grill from REI and didn't like it. I also tried the big green egg mini...it's an amazing grill but annoying to carry and very heavy....wouldn't recommend.

I have heard good things from Nomad grill https://nomadgrills.com but haven't had a chance to try it yet

I carry a Q and a single burner propane stove, but mostly an open fire ring. Like the taste from the wood. These are used with my cast iron.

The 17" Blackstone is everything I need.
I also use the Coleman folding table ($29) so the grease stays off the picnic table.
BTW, keep yours clean, otherwise a critter in the middle of the night might chew the cover for a taste of BACON!
I learned.
Now I found a 18 pack of dish towels at WM for $4, so after using the grill, I get it hot and wipe clean with a towel, then toss it.
There's no waterproof way to repair the cover, so I could buy a generic one for $16 or a complete set of Blackstone's bag and cover for $20.
If someone needs my new extra carry bag, shoot me a PM and I'll send it to you!

I always thought the Blackstone needs a wind block.
I made two using blank license plates and magnets.
I just stick them to the frame or griddle as needed.
They store right on the cooktop.

Does this entail just a quick disconnect hose or does it also have to be re-jetted?

I bought mine from an Airstream dealer with the conversion already made. You can also buy them from the Airstream supply store online. It comes with a short(6’) hose with a quick disconnect on both ends. There is no regulator.
You can also buy a longer hose if needed.
