What do you use your Airstream for other than camping
I was thinking about how much I am enjoying just having my airstream in my yard over and above using it for camping. In the short time I have had it, it has provided a place for:
- A place to listen to music my wife does not like
- A place to play my guitar and sing (which my
wife does not like either)
- Beer storage
- A place of solitude (with the beer)
- A place to work quietly
All in all I am quite satisified... What do you use yours for?

as ours has a motor in the front, we use it for short trips to go biking, etc. It also is a fun vehicle for taking small groups of people around touring. Had 8 in it for a tour when we stayed in Amish country PA.
I also use it for solitude once in awhile. Go out crank up the gen, turn on the a/c and hang in peace, while the teens are in the house jamming on the drum kit or playing some music that makes me nuts!

Endless Days~!!
Escape~
It's akin to a "sandbox" for my mind~
Places to go and, rivers to cross~!
Cloudless days, star studded nights
The sound of crickets, curling campfire smoke
Endless roads, turning, twisting, broken hearts.
Within each..
ciao

Your post reminds me of RED sunsets, DOG eared magazines of the 50's, and a PATCH in the clouds to look down upon us puny insects.

We use ours for work. We provide sound reinforcement for various shows.
We did a 3 day bluegrass festival a few weeks ago. A friend from one of the groups wanted to know if they could use our trailer to warm up in. Well I put the dinette table in the shower and a 5 piece bluegrass band played for 3o minutes in our Minuet.

That's the coolest one so far - love it!
Gives me an idea: if you gutted an Airstream, put a hinged wall of plexiglass across the trailer just aft of the doorframe, covered the walls with that acoustic egg crate stuff and added all the mixing boards and wires... you'd have about the most kick-butt mobile recording studio ever. Great for recording wonderful musicians in rural areas without state of the art facilities nearby.

Now that I'm thinking about it, there's another great musician, Guy Fletcher who plays with Mark Knopfler. He's got a place in California, and when they're not recording in London, it appears they go and play at Guy's place. Check out what he puts in his backyard!!
That's Mr. Dire Straits himself in the middle. Nice mural, huh?
I don't think any of them have equipment in them - why bother when the studio is in the house and you've got the Pacific Ocean across the street - but still, a way cool place to hang out with some extraordinarily talented people.

I have used our CCD as a mobile photo/imaging studio: Powerbook, printer, lights, the whole nine yards. I had to rent a couple of generators, but am seriously looking into two eu2000 Hondas parelleled.
My clients dig it, and the models use the rig to change wardrobe, take massive amounts of amphetamines, whatever.
So far, just a few of these kind of jobs, but I look forward to more.

April, May, and June I was fly fishing in the Catskills in Upstate NY. Getting it ready to spend the winter in McAllen TX if I can only wark out a few more bugs.

What Do We Use Our A/S For You Ask?
Outside of using it for vacation which sometimes is about a 2-K mile trip on the average; we use it for weekender trips as well. When we get company from a-far, it's a good place to store the company! Actually, we've had guests who have stayed in the A/S and enjoyed it quite comfortably. Makes a great guest room!

Brad, those totally rock. I love the mural. What a great idea!
And to think I just use mine as a quiet place to sit and read between trips...

No, really, I do use it for business trips that are within California.
It makes a great mobile office, all it takes is my laptop and HP portable printer, a small file box, and voila, office. I am thinking of taking it to the Arlington TX Guitar show in October.

I take my CCD out to paint (one of the primary reasons for getting some sort of sleepover unit)! I belong to a local Art group that makes weekly trips to paint en plen aire various sites locally. On the longer trips (over 20 miles), I tow my A/S to the site and sleep overnight, then wake up....eat breakfast and drink my cupa java....then walk out the door and start painting! You can see that I don't need much of an excuse to use my A/S! One of my goals is to paint my own CCD in a pristine setting!
