Got Nanocure Ceramic Coat. $2990 for a 23 foot Airstream. Hopefully it’ll help with the maintainence

And a Victron MPPT charge controller (switching it out for the Zamp PWM that my dealer was going to install). They’re just going to charge me the difference for the parts.

Thanks Mollysdad. I used the same mounting screws from the plastic handle. Unfortunately you can’t get to them from the inside. I removed the vent, installed the handle and reinstalled the vent.

Got a dent removed. Took our GT to the local expert on dent removal. They also do ceramic coating. Had several very high end cars in there getting treated. The technician spent a day and a half pulling out the dent. We had a palm branch land on it in March. I absolutely cannot find the previous dent. Totally gone. $1,100, but still less than replacing the panel.
Sorry the second pic went sideways.

GettinAway, that’s amazing… The dent was close to being a crease which makes it impossible to fix. Plus, aluminum stretches when dented; they did a fantastic job. Did they work from the inside as well?

Well worth the $$$ to not have to open up the seams and replace the panel.

Chris Roth is the guy. I’ll send you the number if you want to talk with him.
They had six or seven Ferraris and Lamborghinis in there getting detailed. Chris wasn’t there when I picked it up. The guy I talked with said Chris was a bit nervous taking it on, but spent a day and a half working on it. Needless to say, we are pleased.

I told him he would have no access from inside, and didn’t leave the keys. He did it all from the outside. A few other dent repair places had declined to work on it when I contacted them. This guy agreed to only look at it. But when I arrived he thought it looked doable. My biggest concern was leaving my AS in their back lot. But they blocked it in at night with two other trailers.
The palm branch also pulled the street side solar guard loose. It came unhooked on the way home from FL. When it swung open it creased the panel it’s attached to. He said there was nothing he could do about that panel. It’s in the shadow of the solar guard, so we are leaving it for now.

Got real tired of the grills falling off the rear speakers when traveling and one speaker with an intermittant crackle. Replaced the cheap white speakers with same size JBL Club 622 speakers. It's easy to find speakers that fit the opening, the problem is the size of the magnet fitting the available depth under the Sony stereo system-it's a little crowded in there. The screw holes didn't line up with the speakers but did work for the provided adapter. I wasn't after an audiophile sound improvement, just something that didn't rain parts on a rough road, but they definitely sound better. If I run out of projects, I will change out the front bedroom speakers eventually.

Next up is replacing the bedroom mini-blinds with Zarcor OceanAir shades.

Today was Zarcor day. I bought these back in December, figuring it was a winter project. Drilling-holes-in-aluminum anxiety made worse by "how will I know I got it straight" worked to push it off long enough to get really tired of the project boxes piling up in the garage. I rewatched the installation video on the Zarcor website and went for it. What a waste of anxiety. Probably one of the easiest upgrades I've done on the Airstream. The list of tools they recommend is impressive. All I used was a blue Sharpie, a spring-loaded punch, phillips screwdriver, cordless drill, and one of the suggested drill bits. The shades virtually level and center themselves.

On a roll, the batwing antenna is next on the list and the King Jack antenna is waiting.

Ordered MaxxAir dome vent fans today for the bathroom and shower. We shall see how those hold up over the stock ones.

Small upgrade today...

Decided it was time to pull the 1994 Sony cassette/stereo and install something a little more current. While I was there, I installed a switch to put it in 'standby' mode so the stereo is not pulling as much power when we're not using it (the factory installed it to always be fully powered all the time.)

I made the faceplate on my LASER engraver. It's modeled after the original - scanned the text and used it to make the new cut pattern, and then had the LASER cut the openings.

The Pioneer stereo was a bit tricky to figure out, since it requires a parking brake signal to enable the settings menu and some video settings, but luckily there is an aftermarket module to fool it into thinking the parking brake is set.

If I want to get really industrious I might replace the lousy factory speakers one day.

Richard, that looks great, nice job! Handy to have a laser engraver around to make the faceplate and be able to match the original look. That’s something to be proud of!

BTW, fellow Wisc-UP Club member here; hope to see you at a rally. We were at the Viroqua Rally last month.

Got a new gizzy installed today, along with some new fuzzy seals. Not a big project, but it really dresses up the screen door to get that old yellowed plastic out of there. Nice to finally have some good bug seals as well.

Took a while to figure out what the thing was called, but once I did getting one ordered was quick and easy. Got the gizzy from Woodland Airstream and the fuzzy seals from Out Of Doors Mart and Amazon.

Now you can spray paint your white gizzy with silver Krylon paint made for plastic and it will blend right in! 'Cause that nice white gizmo won't stay white for long! Only takes one fingerprint with grease on it....(don't ask)

Fuzzy seals: so THAT's what we're missing!

I thought about painting it, and then decided against it.

Seems to me it's more likely the paint will get scratched pretty quickly as people open/close the door, and seeing the white plastic poking through would annoy me more than dirt (which hopefully can be cleaned).
