We're thinking about getting a Honda generator eu2000i (I think those numbers are correct), and we know eventually we want to have two so one needs to be the companion. We just need to research which one we should buy first; which one can run by itself.

Hi, I don't know what you're planning on running but, before you spend over 2 grand on 2 generators, consider the Yamaha 2400. Yes it's heavier but, not that much at around 70 lbs. It's super quiet, not much bigger than a 2000 and can start and run a 13500btu a/c. I love mine!

Okay, I' not smart enough for my smart phone, which seems to not be letting some of my photo posts through. Am I missing a step in the process?
I can't see the posts on the iPad, but can see them on the iPhone and the regular website. So perhaps the app on the iPad is the problem...

FYI - I have both companion and standard Honda 2000 generators. They both work well, and independently of each other. An adapter is still required as the Furion cord will not plug directly into the companion 30A outlet. The adapter is about $30 available at Camping World.

We did just purchase a new Weber Q2000 Grill this weekend. I haven't used it yet, but it will get plenty of action this summer:

We also bought one of these from Costco, on sale for $89.95:
We liked it so much after the first week that we bought three more as gifts! I thought it was a foolish idea at first, but we know use it when camping, on the back patio, in the driveway, etc...

Hi Hibby:
This is a good looking grill and one I have been looking at also. Have you cooked on it at all? I'm asking because I have read were some say it will not put out enough heat. That said, I'm not sure what "not enough heat" means in real world cooking. In my world I just need it to put out enough heat that one can cook a good steak on it and for that not to take for ever.
With luck you or (anyone else) will have a bit of real world input into this
Thanks
Doug

Doug (Articfox) -- We ended up going with the eu2000i-c, the companion model and will purchase another regular one later.
Hibby -- Thanks for the info on the adapter, we didn't realize that we needed that, and will have to get one of those ordered too.
Markj55 -- Yamaha was one we researched in the beginning, but we decided not to go with it -- DH says the weight difference is 47 lbs vs 70 lbs, and decided that as we age, the lighter weight will be good, so we decided to go with the lighter Honda 2000.
We had been kicking around getting a bed slide to make removal from the bed easier without having to crawl into the bed with the cap on, but couldn't wrap our minds around having to remove that too (and having holes in the truck bed where the bolts would have been) when we remove the truck cap for the winter. I know some people leave their caps on all year 'round, but we do a lot with our truck, and think it would make life easier at times not having it on.

My Furrion 30 amp 50' power cord will plug directly into the Honda 2000 generator 30 amp power socket with no adapter. It attaches directly to the 30amp service entrance on a trailer with that service.
F30C50-SS - Power Cordsets - Marine Shore Power - Electrical
They also make a 25' model with the same capability:
F30C25-SS - Power Cordsets - Marine Shore Power - Electrical
These cords will also serve as extension cords for the usual power cord by connecting to the trailer and the usual cord attaches directly to the Furrion. They also offer water tight connections between their cords that will keep the cords from accidentally pulling apart.
There is a Furrion pigtail adapter that will plug into the 50 amp service entrance on our trailer and provide the twist lock connection to our 50' Furrion 30 amp cord mentioned above.
FP5030-SY
The 120Vac voltage drop is negligible on either a 25' or 50' cord #10 wire cord.

LED replacement strips for the non-functioning fluorescents that live behind our cornices (1985 Excella). I haven't seen them yet, but Hubby installed them today and he says they are beautiful!

Doug, I've had my Weber Q for a couple years now and I love it. That said, there are some short comings with regard to heat output vs. say, charcoal or a full size gas grill. But it does a better job than any other gas portable I've used.
I'm a perfectionist when it comes to bbqing, grilling and smoking. My first choice is always to cook over wood... There's nothing more fun or tasty. Second is lump or charcoal and last is gas. But for quick easy and convenient I don't think you can beat the weber q. I would like more btu's for searing steaks, but the Q does an adequate job and is very good for burgers, chicken, fish, and dogs.
We hook ours up to a 5 gallon propane tank along with outdoor stove and lantern and that works great. We've used the small bottles also and no difference.
One last thing about weber in general is that they have great customer service. I had an issue with the auxiliary hose for my 5 gal. Tank and they replaced it without issue and offered me a accessory from there Q accessory list free of charge, just for the inconvenience.... That's pretty awesome. My advice is buy it - you'll like it.

Just got my babyQ1000 in the mail today....looks nice....will be trying it out I think this weekend for our local camping trip
Also ordered the book “The Next Exit”....some folks on here had recommended to me in the past as I was talking about finding gas stations suitable for easy access with my rig. Looks like a great book to have as a reference...I think it tells you much more about each exit....not sure if it mentions dump stations...

My pleasure Doug. It's always nice to shed a little light on a good product. If you buy one say from lowes and don't like it, they certainly will take it back. I would recommend the accessory hose for use with big tanks. I don't know if you like grilled veggies but, the Q does a nice job w those too. If you get one let us know what you think?

I was considering a griddle for mine. Do you take the grill off to put the griddle on? And will it fry bacon as well? Thanks

Great thanks Mark - I'm heading to Seattle tomorrow and will be in the States all next week. So I'll get my but over to Lowes and see what they have... Do you know if the optional hose will allow me to hook into my main tanks on the AS?
Thanks and Happy Easter by the way!
Cheers
Doug
