Finally got around to making a "pad" for my Airstream to get it out of the dirt so I can work on it, and have this property as a home base for when I retire... someday. This is located at a piece of property I own that has a well, 30 amp electric and a septic system. The mobile home is used as a workshop and storage. The house to the left of the mobile home is mine as well and is just a little bit bigger than my Airstream .

Lots of work excavating, making the forms, and leveling with crushed concrete prior to the pump truck coming in. Total size is 27' long, by 21' wide and it is butted up to another slab that is 8' deep by 35'. Plenty of room for the AS and vehicles.

Yes, that's what we'd like, too! Then if guests come, our Airstream could be the guest house.

A full set of gaskets for: windows, door, fridge access, storage compartment, screen door and solar stone gard.

And a shiny low pressure Kuuma BBQ.

Picked up 2 Lifeline AGM batteries for our 23' Intl. After 3 years the stock Interstate's couldn't provide the needed power on a consistent basis. Next up will be solar. I need more Bitcoins for that expense though :-).

A CoolerMaster 120mm computer case fan (19db, 69cfm) to replace the loud refrig fan. Came complete with blue LEDs for accent. This summer when I have more time and ambition I may try the dual-fan baffled approach that dtbw described in his excellent posting. Many thanks to he and others that have posted ideas.

p.s. The Wife is wondering if the blue LEDs will annoy our campground neighbors worse than the noise...

The neighbors will think it's a little odd, but a light in your fridge compartment may attract plenty of flying insects at night.

Looks great! What an improvement! No oven is one thing I have a hard time understanding about the newer Airstreams.

The propane oven is standard. The convection/microwave oven is an option. More $$$ for the dealer. Just a few hundred bucks on top of tens of thousands???

Local dealer's excuse, the unit gets the power outlet for the microwave. But they still have to plumb the gas line if someone wants the gas oven. Either way, the get more money if one wants to go back to the standard oven that was a no charge item.

When we ordered our Classic 30, we wanted to delete the microwave in the center kitchen cabinet stack and make that kitchen drawers as we wanted the standard propane oven in the right stack. (The sink is the left stack) The excuse now is that Airstream no longer makes the wooden cabinets for the Classics and they could not build a center drawer stack. That is just bovine by products.

If the convection/microwave option is selected, then the gas oven changes into drawers with the gas cooktop above, unless you specify keeping the gas oven.

Additional Freezer/Refrigerator sources

Additional Freezer/Refrigerator
I could not find a thread on adding more freezer or refrigerator space and I thought my experience may be helpful to others. For my travels I need more freezer space. I originally ordered a Dometic portable ac/dc freezer/refrigerator. I received it and it could not hold a temperature. I attempted to try to work with technical support at Dometic and found out they do not have any technical support and that they rely on dealers. So I called a couple of dealers that had support center status and none of them wanted to help me. So I returned the product. I contacted Paul May at Equipt1.com (801)-573-9769 and he was very helpful. The best product on the market is from a company called National Luna. It is a South African manufacturer. They got their start by providing the refrigerated boxes that transport medicine to third world countries. It was out of my budget, but very nice. There is a mid-level brand called indelB and it has the same power supply, but much less cost and even slightly less expensive than Dometic. I used it for 4 weeks solid and it was flawless. I hardwired it into my Interstate with an extra long cord so I can move it around if necessary. Additionally, it can be switched with an included cord for AC which makes it handy to pack the freezer at home prior to a trip. It also has a sensor to prevent draining the MH batteries. It is extremely quiet and very efficient. I hope this information helps. Steve

Just wondering how much do you think we have all spent on our AS since this thread was started.
