From my boating days, one can put a dab of "anti-seize" on the screw before installing.

Hi, this is what I use for brake jobs instead of white grease.

Our experience is the same as Bob's ... and, it is easier to spruce up the stainless steel.

No keys at all? No concern with things being taken? Just curious!

Thx!

“Galvanic corrosion (also called ' dissimilar metal corrosion' or wrongly 'electrolysis') refers to corrosion damage induced when two dissimilar materials are coupled in a corrosive electrolyte. It occurs when two (or more) dissimilar metals are brought into electrical contact under water. When a galvanic couple forms, one of the metals in the couple becomes the anode and corrodes faster than it would all by itself, while the other becomes the cathode and corrodes slower than it would alone.“

Does not require submersion in water. Wet (humid) water, normally warm with space between molecules, especially if salty (near ocean, salt water) (electrolyte) is enough to close the circuit and corrode, eat up, one of the metals. One may not notice this till the hole of the screw is stripped open, and/or the screw’s hear (or all) falls out.

No need to see the effects on boats or TTs, check the metal hardware in balconies etc near the ocean beach, they require more frequent r maintenance, repair than those inland.

What? Yes, I have keys. I replaced the locks with other locks. I just don’t have the locks that everybody has a key to. I DO have concerns with things being taken, that’s why I changed the locks in the first place.

Sport segment protector installation

The part number for the kit that we got is 109325-100.

Hi Peter,
Will you install these yourself? How easy will it be? I need a set.

Thanks!

When our 2014 31' Classic arrived in January of 2014, all the outside compartment locks were the 751 water compartment key. I had just acquired a camper top for the 2012 Ram 2500HD Cummins that used the same key blank. Took all the Airstream locks to a locksmith and now the use the same hey for the camper shell and the Airstream storage compartments.

The reality is that these are not Fort Knox security devices. A flat blade screw driver can break them open. They just deter the honest folks....

Got it! I should have read your original comment more closely. Thanks for clarifying.

Which locks did you use? I tried to do this but the locks that I bought weren’t compatible with all the Airstream compartment doors/locks.

I got the ones available from the Airstream life store. They are nice - easy to install.

Hi Scott,
I will be installing these when we get some drier weather. Just have to line up the rub strips and hinges with the trailer lines.

I got these from Midtown RV in Penticton. That is who we deal with for all things related to Airstream and where we bought our trailer from.

Were they a direct swap (no modifications necessary)? Please provided part number and source. Thanks!
