hi @jeffmc306

did you make the hitch holder? or did you buy it?.

i need to make two for my AS
1. for the hitch a when camped and
1. for the bike rack while we tow. we use the bike rack to carry the bike around while camped as it fits into the TV 2" receiver. While towing, the rest of the fiammi rack on the back side

Waninae39, I made it myself from 1/4” x 1” flat bar stock and 3/8” threaded rod (Home Depot). I picked up a Reese 2 1/2” receiver tube; you can get any size you need.

I tapped the top metal plates so they’d be flush on the top with a jam nut underneath. I had some sheet rubber and put it on the sides of the frame and under the plates to protect the frame. Fun project!

Scroll back on this thread to page 342, posts #6829 and 6839 for a description and photos!

i have a metal container and I glued a steel metal 90 angle below
i put three rare-earth magnets on the wall. each one can hold 30lb

now the wall hold the cup. when we want to clean, just pull it off

Stand for Santa

Each year I’ve put Christmas lights on our Airstream since the DW prohibited me from going all “Cousin Eddie” with the bathrobe, hat and sewer hose.

My son found a vintage molded Santa and offered it to me. The light was broken so I retrofitted an LED spot that fit in the original mount. He’s just the right size to fit above the propane tank cover but I didn’t want to bungee it to the cover.

I had some scrap wood and made a stand that sits on top of the battery box. I’ll use two ratchet straps to hold the stand to the battery box and bolted the Santa to the stand.

He’ll go up the day after Thanksgiving along with the rest of the lights!

what's the amp draw on the induction burner? Do we need to be on shore power to use it or will it work off battery power?

Hi Jeff,

Looks like that was made just for your application. Good job! I liked Jim's comment about Rudolf! Any plans in that regard? https://www.airforums.com/forums/ima...lies/smile.gif

fresh water tank; neck cracked for fill tube. Belly pan full. Also A/C cover had a bad hail storm and cover looked as though someone took a shotgun to it. Alot of shallow dents, fix ?? Could see insurance rates go up.

Rudolf

Jim & Hanno, I’m on the lookout for a Rudolf! Would like to find a Santa’s sleigh and rain deer like Clark Griswold’s and put it on the roof of the Airstream.

The kids in the neighborhood get a kick out of seeing the shiny trailer with Christmas lights on it :-)

Read the label on the induction burner. It is either on a big yellow flag wrapped around the cord or on the bottom of the appliance.
Generally BAD IDEA.
THERE IS NO FREE LUNCH.
To work on battery power, you would have to turn your inverter on and plug the induction burner into an outlet marked "inverter". If you have standard OEM batteries, even with standard solar your batteries would go flat, dead, ruined in a very short time. Propane stove top is your friend.

Any electrical device that creates heat is a power hog. You CAN run LED lights, a radio, a TV (With a flat screen), a small computer, charger for a cell phone on a standard inverter for a reasonable time but CONSERVE - batteries do get drawn down.

Learn about generators, solar and battery options that are not standard from the factory - because 95% of customers will never need them.

Cheap portable auxiliary power (easy!) would be a Honda 1000. It is small and light. It can be used to charge the battery on the trailer or tow vehicle. You can carry the induction burner outside and plug it into the generator. Ditto for a hair dryer, toaster oven OR electric ice maker OR CPAP machime --- one at a time, not all together! Of course you have to carry a gas can for its fuel or convert it to propane and probably carry an extra tank of propane.

We got a new refrigerator as the old one leaked out ammonia. The install was fairly easy.I plan to take it out and clean the cavity every couple of years. The trailer is a 2006 and the cavity was pretty dirty.

now ready for the big snow dump planned for today. they expect 30 cm in 12 hours tonight

i have the calmark cover on
https://calmarkcovers.com/custom-cov...railer-covers/
added the winter snow plow service protection
added a reflective tape so that the plow service can see the corner even at night

this is year 3 with both items. no issues over winter

i plan to paint the OSB next spring to that it matches the cover and AS.
not really needed as once xmas comes, everything turns white

Thanks

How many of you use a cover? Most Airstreamers do not and advise against covering.
