What are those numbers?

I've seen Airstreams with large numbers at the front and rear of the trailer just over the windows. What are those numbers and what do they mean? My Airstream doesn't have them... Thanks

Large Red Numbers

Those are rentals. The numbers are to keep track of each unit.

Just kidding folks........

Every member of the Wally Byam Caravan Club International (WBCCI) is issued a number. It's that number.

Some display it, some don't.

Just out of curiosity, since I never mounted my red numbers and can no longer find them, what are their dimensions (height/width)?

My wife has a Cricut, and I'm thinking about having her make us some blue numbers.

Stingray -- I'll try to find mine and measure them for you.

SnoSheriff -- You should join up. The WBCCI is for fun, fellowship and adventure; at least at the local (Unit) level. I'm not sure what the National folks are doing.
Check out WBCCI.org to locate your Region and the Unit closest to you.

Numbers

Red number are 6 inches tall.
Blue numbers are whatever size you want them to be.
When you use the cricut.Make sure the vinyl is made for outdoor use and read as to how long its outdoor life is.Depending on type of vinyl some last only a year in the sun and others longer.

Thanks for the suggestions, Devoman. Do you have a recommendation for where to get the vinyl?

Can these red numbers be used for history of Airstream? And if so where would we look the numbers 8644 up? Thanks Susan.

If you do post your numbers on your trailer you may want to consider putting them on your front and rear windows instead of on the aluminum as they leave an ugly residue over the years that is expensive to remove. I realize this is not where WBCCI wants them, but our previous owner spent an additional two or three hundred dollars above the cost of normal refinishing to have the numbers residue thoroughly removed when P&S did the refinishing in 2002.

The numbers are assigned to the members so they are not trailer specific.

If a member gets a new trailer, they keep the number they have.

You would need to have someone with WBCCI Membership Directories to look that number up for you. That number wasn't listed in the 2009 directory.

I am trying to find info on our trailer (past owners etc.) It is a 65 Caravel and the old numbers are 26225. It is registered in Wash. but it has been in Montana as well.
Thanks
