Proud Army Veteran (Cold War Era)
Served as a 15E (Pershing Missile Crewmember) 1982-1990. Basic/AIT at Ft. Sill, Ok. 18 months permanent party at 3rd Bn/9th FA (the only Pershing Battalion in the states), then on to the 74th USAFAD at Klosterlechfeld, West Germany. I was responsible for the Maintenance and Assembly section for our unit. Official motto, "We gave peace a chance". Unofficial motto, "Nuke em all, let God sort em out".
A fantastic time in my life and served with some outstanding people.I Should have stayed for at least 20 years.

Uraljohn: I was part of the original cadre of crew members for the Ground Launch Cruise Missile Program (GLCM), check out my username, from 1983 - 1987.... I would have stayed in the program BUT the INF Treaty spoiled that career path. We used to say "Nuke'em Till They Glow".

US Navy medically retired
1968-1988
Multiple ships on the West and East coasts along with one shore assignment.
Was retired as a Chief Petty Officer (E-7)
Best duty station? Probably Hawaii, it was a good time being stationed there just after we were married. Just wish we had had enough money to go to other islands. The beaches were the best I had seen at that point, and surfing was a dream off of the North Coast of Oahu was not my idea of a nice place but then I wasn't in it very often. I did enjoy the Island but my poor Wife of less than a month when I received the orders was a lot overwhelmed. However, I have to thank my Wife for us staying together for 41 years now.
My thanks go out to all of the Veterans and their Families!
Some gave all, some gave some, and some did their time.

US Navy, 1971-1981 Machinist Mate (SS)
USS Lexington, CVT-16, Pensacola Florida
USS Andrew Jackson, SSBN-619 (One Man With Courage Is A Majority) out of Holy Loch, Scotland, spent most of the time under the Arctic Circle.
Thankfully, the nuclear Navy set me up for a nice civilian career.
The best to all on Veterans Day, and Happy Birthday Marines.

I am fully aware that the Non-commissioned officers are the backbone of our great military.
I salute you all and will always hold in honor all who served and especially those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
Thank you for your service.

I love our vets!!!
I am at least fourth generation military. I only served in the reserves for a couple of years when I was 20. I loved it.
My great grandfather lost his leg in WWI. My grandfather after fighting in WWII came back and thought he was still fighting the war and opted for jail rather than the loony bin. Those were his choices at the time. My other grandfather served as well. My father was in the Army and I spent a couple years in the Army as well as mentioned above.
It is in our blood.
God Bless the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice and those who keep us safe now.
Being born in England and having my parents grow up in the war one being at the cliffs of Dover watching the Spitfire dog fights and the other in London for the battle of Britain our family became very grateful for the U.S. If it wasn't for the U.S. it would have been over. At the end of my mum's street in London their was a U.S. depot and my mum would say to the men. "You got any gum chum". They had a street party after the war that the depot put on. Our family has always spoken with great reverence about the U.S. and it's support. I can't say enough other than God Bless the U.S.A. I feel very blessed to be in North America and that is why I wave the flag.
