Turner A/S dealership closed

Note to forum members who have done business with Jim Turner and his family in Jeannette, PA; the Turner dealership is closed. Today I found some uncorroborated details from a nearby business who knew Jim and his employees.

Sometime since June of 2005 (when I was last there) Jim decided to close the business. The Turner dealership business assets were sold off at auction in October 2005. In addition, Jim's mother Eva, who had started the dealership with her husband Harold about 50 years ago, died in the summer of 2005.

The present listing for an Airstream dealer shows "Roger Williams Chrysler Dodge Jeep" at 125 Thebold St in Greensburg, PA, phone 724-837-2753. A call to that number was answered by a machine as Ranger Trailers, which is a trailer manufacturer in business at that location, properly spelled 125 Theobold St, in Greensburg, PA, since 1969. (see www.rangertrailer.com). I'll try to go by today and report what I find out.

Note that "Roger Williams Chrysler Dodge Jeep" located in Weatherford, TX is an Airstream dealer. I called them and spoke with their general manager Dave Tidmore, who assured me it's not their business moving to western PA. This name confusion may be caused by an Airstream company database error.

I have appreciated having Jim and his employees' expert and honest service and it is unfortunate that they are gone. I wish them all luck in the future.

Question

Marshall,

What happened to your Odyssey?
How's the Ridgeline?
What is the most you think it will pull equipped properly?

S.W. PA Airstream dealer update

This afternoon I went by the Ranger Trailer office in Greensburg. While this is not the name given by Airstream, it is the address and phone number on the Airstream dealer locator site.

It is part of an old industrial site that has been renovated for multiple businesses. There were no indications of any Airstream business, nor were any trailers, Airstream or otherwise, within the area. I'll report if I get a response from Ranger Trailer as to any affiliation with Airstream.

Driftwood:
The Odyssey is in retirement getting the daily commute service but no more towing. It has served 170k+ miles and has more good life left in it, but the Ridgeline was purchased with Bambi towing in mind.

I've been very happy with the Ridgeline as my tow vehicle. The Honda manual states a towing limit of 5000lbs max, 500lbs max tongue weight with the Honda hitch receiver and a WD hitch. So far I've put over 7k mi on the Ridgeline towing the Airstream, and 24k mi total. It has pulled the Bambi through the Adirondack and Appalacian mountains without complaint and has averaged about 11mpg overall with the trailer.
