Towing Mirrors

Hi All,

Iím new to the forum only having posted once and yet to pick up my new 23í Globetrotter. I pick up next week and hoping for advice on towing mirrors.

- Do I need them given the trailer has a rear camera and my vehicle, 2020 Aviator with towing Package, has blind spot detection system customizable to trailer dimensions? Apologies if a silly question!!

- if I need them, I would likely do something temporary vs. modifying my new car. Any recommendations?

Thanks for the assistance as we are super excited to pick this beauty up and take it out!

States have different laws regarding mirrors and towing. This webpage lists the laws by state. https://drivinglaws.aaa.com/tag/trailer-mirrors/ . The laws will change from time to time, but the most common concept is that you need to be able to see what is behind your trailer at a distance of 200 feet. If the police are trying to get you to pull over and you do not see them, they may want to discuss your mirror issue.

There are several good products that you can attach to your mirrors and I am sure others will jump in with their recommendations. My Tundra has the factory towing mirrors so this is not an issue for me.

Yes you will want them to feel like you can have the best sense of where you are in relation to moving traffic.

We have found that the best functioning tow mirrors are the McKesh strap-on mirrors with the convex spots on both sides. They don't vibrate and give a very wide field of vision.
See these on the hensley hitch website.

If you aren't interested in those, then look at the ones that suction onto your stock mirrors.

I am using K Source Snap-On Towing Mirrors 80930 on my 2019 Silverado High Country towing my 2020 25RB. They are the best clip on mirror of the three I tried. I am able to see down each side of the trailer for cars near and far.

Good luck with your new Airstream!

Aux mirrors

No just plain no you do not need them. Bin there done that.
Stay with your OEM mirrors and work with the camera you will be fine .

You will end up tossing them after one season as I did if you get them.
Use the money you save to go out to fine dining and support your local economy/
