This Beautiful 2012 Airstream Can be Yours If The Price is Right!
Just wondering about something:
How come we never see an Airstream product on any one of the eternally popular game shows like The Price is Right or Wheel of Fortune?

Hi, because the price would be too high.

Everyone thinks they cost at least a million dollars, so folks wouldn't know what to bid!!! And the price display machine doesn't have enough places to display all the zeros.
Actually, Airstream probably isn't too anxious to give one away.

Robert, a less-expensive Airstream is on par price wise with many of the prizes.

sand, Airstream won't forfeit a trailer to expose the brand to the #1 syndicated nightly game show (Wheel of Fortune) nor the #1 syndicated morning/afternoon game show in America (The Price is Right)?
What kind of marketing is that???????????
One of the biggest problems with the brand is the fact there is not enough brand awareness/exposure. We all have been privy to the comment "I didn't know they still made these."
BTW, not all prizes are donated; many are acquired by the game show at below retail value. An Airstream would be a huge crowd pleaser for the contestants and viewing audience. The exposure alone would sell "x" number of trailers.

They don't want to dumb down the brand?

cameront, lol!
Selling product and making money is "dumb" to a corporation?
A lot of people have gone broke while clinging onto a perceived cachet.
That Mercedes that passed you on the highway is likely being leased by someone who can ill-afford it.
I would not be offended if I saw an Airstream on TPIR or WoF. Instead of hearing "I didn't know they still made these" we might hear "Hey! I saw a new Airstream on _______ and some lucky guy won it."

Brilliant idea! I could just see Vanna White stepping out of a magnificent Airstream now! It would be a stunning advert for Airstream.
As far as I know, such large prizes are NOT donated. They may be supplied with "promotional consideration" which means in essence a discount for the exposure of being on the show. However, it would not be at less than cost in my opinion. These shows are fabulously rich and big money makers.
I think Fly at Night should drop a line to the AS marketing department. Seriously. What a hoot!

A trailer by itself would not be of any value to most contestants, so it would have to share exposure with a name brand truck like RAM.
Airstream would only get a bit of the glory, as the truck supplier would probably demand priority.
Now, I agree, a new AIRSTREAM MOTORHOME would probably go over well.

massey, in the YTube link, the trailer does not come with a truck.
Whether or not the trailer is of any practical "value" to the winner - that is not important, IMO. What matters is brand exposure.
mstephens, I think the mothership is a frequent reader of these forums.
Are they looking for anyone who could help with marketing? I know someone who doesn't have anything to do right now!

I think Let's Make A Deal used to have an occasional Hi-Lo trailer. It used to be part of one of the last three door choices at the end of the show. I don't think I saw a tow vehicle as part of the package.

Jack, I remember that too. It was raised by hydraulics and was fairly expensive. It also appeared on TPIR showcase.

Bluto, I think it is.
BTW, it would appear I sit around watching game shows all day and night. I really do not. I had an aunt stay with us once who was addicted to all of them.

I've seen boats as prizes, both with and without tow vehicles. Pretty much the same principle.
It does seem like Airstreams have been getting pretty good exposure lately in commercials, like the Progressive Insurance one. I got the mailing below from my credit union a while back advertising their "recreation loan" program.
