Stolen in Seattle Area - Brand New 31 foot Airstream!

Stolen 31 foot 2012 Classic!

We had a 2012 Classic stolen early this morning from our Airstream Dealership in Covington, Washington. If any one stumbles across information about this it would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Holly Cow, any leads so far? These types of stories are scary for anyone who owns one.

For us in the neighborhood who can keep an eye out give us much info as possible. Just hope it wasn't taken by meth addicts who want to cut it up for scrap. You might contact local scrap dealers.

Sorry about the theft. Boy, they sure picked an expensive one.

Any exterior/interior photos?

Hope it doesn't get scrapped. Canadian customs should be advised, just in case they try to sneak it across the border.

That's a hard coach to hide, I'd be checking with customs at both the Port of Tacoma and Port of Seattle. Let us know what's happening.

Nothing worse than a thief!
My guess is that they'd never try to get it across the border.....unless they're extremely savvy with a fake title/tag/insurance.
One things for sure, they know how to tow something big and had a plan well up front as this would not be a sudden decision.

I'd lay money it's up in the mountain boonies somewhere as an easy ready made cabin. Possibly for a grow op/meth lab.

Has anyone done the math to determine what an AS is worth if parted out/scrapped....seems like a lot of work for little profit. And risk if a serial number of an appliance is traced.

They will do anything. We have had quite a few thief-relatated deaths here. They will break into power stations and climb telephone poles just to get at the copper wiring. Some break their neck or electrocute themselves in the process.

I can't see them hauling a new and complete trailer to the scrappers. Too suspicious. Wouldn't they just cut it up and take those sheets of aluminum in?

I just checked the scrap prices - about $1/lb.

If it was taken to the "mountain boonies" the first place I would look is along the forest service road up the middle fork of the Snoqualmie River, not many miles north of Covington. A known meth lab area.

You need to install gps tracking devices on all your inventory that works similar to "On Star" so if one is moved it will notify you and track its movements.

How did the thieves breach the security measures at the facility? Ted is meticulous in planning and executing that plan.

To steal the trailer, the thieves would have to access to the trailer's interior to activate the power to lift the jack. Those trailers should have been locked and thus secure. Seems like there is more to this story than "just" a theft. Access to a gated facility? Access to the trailer?? Keys? etc.

In any case, so sorry that it happened. Ted and Parker are "first class" guys: honest, sincere, and trustworthy.

Let us not dim the real meaning of this Christmas season despite a theft. Merry Christmas.

alan and marlene....

Is it gated? The last time Hubby and I were there I don't recall seeing any gates. This is so sad

Thank you ALL for your input and very kind words!
We had a break in several weeks ago and in response we hired security to patrol the lot all night long 7 days a week.
The thieves obviously new the time the guard left along with when service personnel arrived.
A nearby business captured the trailer getting on highway 18 west bound at 6:38am! The unit was locked, the stabilizer jacks were down, and we have tongue locks on every unit! ( yes we have all the keys and the title).
I fear these are thieves that have knowledge of our schedule or operation, VERY disturbing. It is a realty that there are bad people that do bad things and every precaution taken will only deter but can not always stop thieves.

The unit is a 2012 31 foot Classic. We are going to put a reward of $2,500 out to try and get some leads. The police sent out an APB for Washington, Oregon, and the Boarder Patrol at the US/Canadian boarder. Can't hide 31 feet of silver very easily.

At the end of the day we will not let this dissuade us from our passion for Airstream and all the wonderful things this product brings to our lives: memories, adventures, and family time!

Merry Christmas to ALL of you and Happy New Year!

Do you have a description of the TV on Hwy 18? That might be of help to someone on the road to help locate your trailer.

Ted, Merry Christmas......and I hope lots of Airstreams will be rolling off your lot in 2012 (in happier circumstances - purchased, not stolen!)

I wish you had opened your Seattle dealership a little earlier, as I would have certainly taken a look at your extensive inventory. (Purchased my trailer February, 2011). The only AS dealer in B.C. has a very limited selection. I am sure you will find many potential Airstream customers from the Vancouver, B.C. area headed your way!

I'd still love to pop into your dealership and look around someday. (Am only 1 1/2 hours from Seattle).

Thank-you for bringing more Airstreams into the PNW.

Regards,
FaN

Thanks for asking! We are working on some leads that look promising but I do not want to share to much on a public forum.

I hope all is well with you!
