STOLEN 74 Overlander TX
My 1974 Overlander was stolen Monday morning from my home in San Marcos Tx. I wanted to start a new thread and add flyers as well as pictures etc. Please keep your eyes peeled,I must bring her home. The WB number above the front window is 27470.It is a 27 footer with a dent to the right of the front door. The blue trim is missing from around the back International emblem. The floors are laminate in light brown and there are bamboo blinds through out. the little window by the front door is missing its latches and there are bumber stickers that say "support your local midwife make love"
Thank you

I am really sorry to hear about your loss. For the benefit of the folks here on the Forums, tell us about how your Airstream was secured at the time of the theft.

What is that now....five - six thefts! Lordie momma, somebody needs to set a trap. Do it like they do on stolen cars, set an Airstream out as bait and set the thieves up...then catch them.

What's the story? I can't imagine any money in scrap for those dearhearts, where are they going? We've pretty much figured the one stolen in Seattle was bound for the far east and was a pro, well-planned job, but these don't make any sense. I know Texas is big, but, where do you stash them and for what?

This is making me really angry. It has to be a ring or one person who has a buyer. They are using these trailers. They are using them for illegal activities or selling them to overseas buyers. The scrap is not worth the jail time.
I feel for you, because it is a total violation of you and your family. I can be angry because they hit my house and ripped me off two weeks ago. Police are not doing a thing. I guess the police feel there are bigger fish to fry.

I'm trying something different....I use the Facebook pages of friends who essentially cover the Central and South Texas. I have lots of interest and comments....sorry but lynching was outlawed and frowned upon by some.....Lets see how it shakes out. Pictures help. Use your own Facebook contacts.

They end up on a ranch somewhere as hunting cabins. Stick them in some trees out in the boonies and they pretty much disappear.

With all the computor gizmos available these days, a title, bill of sale, etc. could have been printed beforehand and no one would have suspected they were shipping a stolen trailer. San Marcos is not that far from Galveston, by the way.

I think my next item to purchase is an Asset Protection Unit. I wish I would not have to purchase something like this but with what is going on I do not want to do an "I if I would have only done this" type of thing. I am sorry to hear of the losses and I will definately keep an eye out. My girlfriend is the Manager of a Kwik Chek in Antlers Oklahoma. If you send me pictures (either by e-mail or pm) of the TT, I will post them in her store. The more prople looking - the more chances of recovery. We can hope anyway!

From another Texas Stolen Airstream
So sorry to hear of your loss. It's a terrible thing and it will take you some time to get over it. I'm attaching the flyer I put together on mine which was stolen Labor day from my office in Houston. There are many posts I've put up on the forums but to date not a slice of evidence or leads have turned up. I'd like to believe a ring of thieves are targeting us but not too sure about that. I suspect Gypsies (yes Gypsies) work in the south Texas area, they are very skilled in trailers and I believe they drive around scouting out deals. The Houston Police Dept. gave me no hope, they wrote out a report, put it in the computer and that's it. No detectives, no investigation, nada. I followed up to see that the report did make it to Austin and is in the state database.
I've made a request to the Airforums that they create a special forum for stolen Airstreams so that all of us can post photos and information to the owner base that may spot a stolen trailer or recognize it if it shows up on Craig's List or Ebay. My contact info is on the flyer if it helps in your investigation
