Stolen 1974 23’ Land Yacht Airstream travel trailer. New solar, battery bank of 6V batteries, added a/c, new furnace, new fridge, new bike rack, new cream vinyl flooring, new propane tanks, cover and regulator, new awning, added rear camera. Just brought it back from amazing overhaul work at Toscano RV in Los Banos. Never had a chance to camp in it before stolen in broad daylight. Trailer ID 6581
7:00AM 4/6/21 from 12th St/San Fernando in San Jose, CA

Sorry to hear that.
This is a broad statement, but from what I've seen from other Airstream forums, they arnt stolen as much as other travel trailers, because they kind of stand out more.Little harder to conceal.
It's a good idea to have a GPS theft recovery tracker hidden on any vehicle that a person doesn't want to lose, especially specialty vehicles/ classics/ etc.
Takes the cops right to it, and they enjoy that kind of stuff.
Couple years ago, I went to a RV show of other standard trailer brands.Every trailer one dealer had there, had stickers on trailers, warning that they were protected by same brand of GPS recovery system. The stickers really stood out.
I asked the salesman about that, he said thieves were yanking them right off the lots they had up by Seattle, before they went to the recovery systems.Didnt lose any after they went with them.
In your case, maybe one of the neighbors in path it was pulled out, caught the tow vehicle on a ring front door camera.Might be worth knocking on some doors and asking. The tow vehicle probably went by it a couple times, checking it out before they hooked it.The cops won't go to that length, but you possibly could get a plate. But lots of times, they use a stolen truck to steal a trailer.

So sorry for you.
Post it on Facebook, Craigslist, Airstream addicts (on FB) as you have here as a stolen trailer. Airstreamers are very eager to help each other to get trailers back.
Also advise MVD so it cannot get re-registered or filed as a lost title trailer.

Someone posted this thread in another talking about what they assumed was a stolen 23' airstream spotted in SoCal. Not sure why they didn't post that thread here as well. Maybe they PM'd you? Here's the link...
https://www.airforums.com/forums/f161/well-that-is-interesting-221394.html
I know it's a long shot, but worth mentioning I think. Hope you recover your trailer.

I will now post on that thread, repeating the request -- here is a better hot link:

Hwy 14 is dead flat and empty between Ave G and H. Just look to the east and you will see it. No TV nor did it look level the two times I drove by it.
It is clearly not Silvercamps trailer. Sorry.

Thanks . . . in what city? Your Littlerock . . . Mojave . . . Palmdale . . . Lancaster?
14 runs through most of these. "SoCal" is quite a broad area . . .
Near 20th St West in northern Lancaster here?

The map copyright date is 2021 FWIW.
Thanks.

Right, and this wasn't a criticism. I realize you were being cautious to not get hopes up, but with these situations moving as quickly as possible (not waiting) is usually best; otherwise, the trailer ends up in the wind.
Sorry it wasn't the right one, but two 23 footers in the same (semi-related) thread was too much coincidence to not mention immediately.

So sorry to hear about your AS being stolen. That’s a bummer for sure.
Hopefully someone will spot it. The big red numbers should help in finding it.
I see some recommendations for a GPS tracking devices. Do many of you use such a thing? Any recommendations?

They ( GPS tracking/ recovery) devices are pretty cheap. They start pinging whoever is waiting,( the service or cell phones/ etc) as soon as the trailer moves.
Cops like it, because there's usually other stolen items/ assorted criminals, when they swoop in.
Easy arrests/ recovery.
Plus the perps don't get a chance to start stripping the stolen vehicles.
Your cell phone tracks you wherever you go.Why not put a similar device on something you really don't want to lose?

That's less than a 10 hour drive (less than a day). Isn't traveling literally what they are made for? And wouldn't someone who stole an Airstream drive it far from where they stole it hoping they wouldn't be caught? It seems perfectly reasonable that someone who stole an Airstream from up north would think, "I'm gonna take this down south and live the life!"
I don't understand where your confusion is coming from, and what could it possibly hurt to turn someone's attention to ANY possibility for the return of their beloved Airstream?

FYI silvercamp has posted an update in the other thread:
https://www.airforums.com/forums/f16...ng-221394.html
Good luck to you . . . hopefully the insurance company will reimburse you for your recent remodeling costs.
Happy trails.
