Spring Scams
I have been contacted by a person who goes by mackstore63@yahoo.com with regards to a awning I have posted in the classified section. Says he is offshore Canada and wants to send a check sight unseen with money included for his shipping company to pick up a 22' long awning. Wants me to pay shipper...Sounds too fishy to me, I declined his offer. Sellers beware there are people trying to take advantage of the airstream community.

If he is paying upfront and covering the shipping what is your question.
Wait for the check to clear and contact the shipper for a price. If he has in fact covered the shipping where are you out anything.
He may have to pay Canadian costumes when it get to Canada but once you are paid you are out of the loop.
Treat the Canadians right because their money is now worth more than ours and they have the oil.

If he actually had a shipper, he would have been invoiced & paid them. Just another scam.

This is a very old scam. The check you get will be bogus. You pay the shipper who never picks up the awning and disappears. By the time that cashiers check is returned thay are long gone. BTW they are not offshore Canada but more than likely in Nigeria which is the source of most of these internet scams.
HowieE what exactly are Canadian Costumes. Maybe a red mountie uniform or a lumberjack shirt and a toque. LOL. Yes are dollar is worth more and we do have the oil and the fresh water too.
JFScheck HEY I ressemble that remark. LMAO.

The problem comes when the check comes back on you long after you have paid a shipper and or sent your item off. Just because the bank accepts the check does not make it good. It could come back on you a month later and you could be charged with passing a bad check by giving it to them.
