Southern Cal is on FIRE!!! Plz help if you Can....
My fellow So Cal AS Rally friend suggested that I post this. I have friends who have apparently lost their home in the Running Springs area of Southern California due to the recent wild fires. I have offered them my AS as temporary housing while they sift through the ashes and formulate a plan to move forward.
This post is to see if there are other like minded AS buddies who can share their prized AS w/ a family that may now find themselves homeless? If you know of someone who needs shelter, you may want to consider this option. If you don't know of anyone personally, and would like to help someone in need, plz let me know. If there is a significant response, I'll try to get LA County and/or the USFS to assist.
As I stated, if I were displaced from my home, the other place I'd rather be is in my AS (or the Rio Palace Hotel in Copacabana).

Tim,
That's a great idea.
Given that there are so many effected areas in So Cal, we are all effected by the fire, one way or the other.
Let's help when we can.
=^^=the time

Tim Can, that's a great way to help someone out! IIRC, Running Spings is in San Bernardino County.

Not to dampen the giving spirit, but there are still people living in the travel trailers provided by FEMA over 2 years ago after Katrina. Are you ready for that type of commitment and would you want your $50k + rig subjected to that kind of full time use?
The GOV (local, state, federal) is capable of providing necessary assistance a check to the red cross is a much better and more controlled way to help those in need.

I lived for 2 weeks at Fort Wilderness in my Airstream after Katrina. FEMA has enough trailers to cover people displaced by the fires. The trailers come with cooking utensils and linen. FEMA will place the displaced victims in hotels until the trailers are placed on site and hooked up. I believe the number of homes lost in the fires was 2000 compared to the 200,000 lost in Katrina. FEMA should have no problems.
