solar powered rear view camera

Anyone have good / bad / indifferent experience with a solar powered, wireless rear view camera? Would like to have such a beast when I'm changing lanes and really don't want to dig into the AS' wiring and having to turn the headlights on. Our rig is a 28 footer as I understand distance may play a role in how well such a system works. Don't care if it has a separate monitor or utilizes a smart phone.

we use a garm RV GPS with the wireless camera

We wired the camera to come on when the TV light go on.

thus when driving, to see behind, we just switch on the lights
the GPS see the camera and switches to that view

We have a 28’ AS with the factory wireless (WiFi) camera. Works fine. Not solar powered but it sounds like your concern is wireless range. Our TV is an F350 with the standard bed, so there’s a good distance between the camera and display. Always gets a good signal.

I also use the Garmin RV GPS with the BC-30 camera.
However I have it INSIDE the rear window, so I get power from one of the many USB ports. Since the transmitter only uses 150mw. there's plenty of juice.
However, the resolution on the BC-30 is lousy. Fine in bright Sun, less that VHS quality while backing into your space at dusk.

Is it working OK with your 32 foot rig?
